You can also get: Penrite Vantage Full Synthetic 10W-40 Engine Oil 6L for $55 ($53.75 with plus) delivered (expires tonight) from eBay which has JASO MA2 as well.

    • Is this the item which has Jaso MA on the product label but is actually JASO MA2, but someone actually said its not recommended for motorcycles? It was quite confusing I remember.

      • I'm not sure who said that it isn't recommended for motorcycles but it literally has a picture of a motorcycle on the front. Perhaps it's not suitable for all motorcycles but it's suitable for anything that requires JASO MA2.

JASO MA2 meets and exceeds JASO MA specifications and is therefore suitable for those bikes as well.

Perhaps MC-4ST is somehow optimised for motorcycles, but since both meet JASO MA2 it's hard to tell the practical difference from the marketing puff.

        • Used in many different bikes with non-issue

      • Yea I can confirm it is now all JASO MA2 they just havent updated the photos for some retailers. and for your second question this is exclusively motorcycle engine oil, dont put it in ur car.

        • I was referring to the Penrite Vantage, not the linked product. I only need 2L of oil per oil change, so 6L would probably go weird before I finished it all.

it's not full syn. It uses base mineral oil with a synthetic package. The pao and ester blend is full syn, designed from the ground up just as a lube for high end bikes. Incidentally - if you ride hard, 15w50 is better for warmer weather, 10w40 for the colder months.

Any good oil is supposedly fine if it is fit for purpose (wet clutch etc). Cheaper oil changed more often is better than expensive oil changed less often. I use the penrite full (pao and ester) syn @ 5000km road; 3000 - 4000 if a track day or two included

  • I just bought the mc 4st 10W-50 in 4 litres for $64.80 which works out a bit cheaper per litre.
    What's the difference?

    • Well, just don't put 10w50 in bikes that the manufacturer recommends 10w30, maybe u can get away with 10w40, but still its a nah for me.

      • is there a bike where 10w30 is recommended?

Honda Monkey, Grom and cbr600rr uses 10w30 according to the manual.

Of the more significant differences is the red bottle contains PAO or Polyalphaolefin wh ich is marketed as a premium lubricant for extreme temps/high performance. They market it as the 'race' oil for teams. But I believe it also has less lifetime than the yellow stuff (Total base number is lower)
