nbn FTTN/FTTB/FTTC 100/20 $82/M | nbn FTTP/HFC 500/50 $82/M, 750/50 $89/M, 1000/100 $89/M for 6 Months (New Customers) @ iPrimus

Just came across this deal on iPrimus for nbn connections, which seems like great value, especially for the 1000/100 plan at $89/month for the first 6 months.

Here’s the summary of NBN plans (pricing below is for the first 6 months):

Plan Name Typical Evening Speed Price (First 6 Months) Usual Price nbn Technology
nbn® Premium (100/20) 100 / 17 $82 / month $92 / month FTTN, FTTB, FTTC
nbn® Premium Plus (500/50) 500 / 50 $82 / month $102 / month FTTP, HFC
nbn® Home Superfast (750/50) 750 / 50 $89 / month $109 / month FTTP, HFC
nbn® Home Ultrafast (1000/100) 1000 / 100 $89 / month $109 / month FTTP, HFC

For comparison, the next best nbn 500/50 deal I could find was Exetel One Plan 500/50 at $80/month, which is their regular price (no promo period). Still good, but if you can get Ultrafast for $89, that’s a solid win.

From the iPrimus Opticomm plan selections, it’s really a no-brainer to go for the 1000/100 Ultrafast plan; same price as the 750/50, but faster download and upload speeds.

Compared to others like Superloop, this one stacks up really well if you’re in an Opticomm area.

Here’s the summary of Opticomm plans (pricing below is for the first 6 months, except Fibre Standard Plus):

Plan Name Typical Evening Speed Price (First 6 Months) Usual Price
Fibre Standard Plus (48/17) 48 / 17 $87 / month $87 / month
Fibre Premium Plus (90/17) 90 / 17 $82 / month $97 / month
Fibre Home Superfast (200/21) 200 / 21 $89 / month $104 / month
Fibre Home Ultrafast (280/42) 280 / 42 $89 / month $119 / month

I wish ISPs would just give us 500/250 or something like 250/100 as standard. I hate the way plans are structured.

  • Those are their NBN plans, they've got a different set of pricing for Opticomm, and looks like they don't offer gigabit for Opticomm either

Southern Phone is even cheaper for nbn

how's the customer service/support? are they reliable?

      • +1

Been with them almost a year no problems.

      • Their product and their service was awful. Worst nbn experience I’ve had.

Every month, at least once a month I’d lose internet for between 3-5 days. And I’d have to spend at least 12 hours on the phone getting them to reconnect my internet. I never had a problem with any other ISP.

I have FTTP too so there very little that can go wrong, still never figured out what went wrong every single month without fail.

        • I had this issue with Kogan and was furious with them… Until I got with ABB and retested my old router and it turned out to be that!

I've not had any issues with any providers to be honest, I'm just always trying to save a buck. Southern seem fine, no issues so far

      • +1

Had them for a few months now. Has been pretty good and on par with superloop

    • Superloop also $85 for 6 months for 1000/100

  • +3

Tangerine has still not downgraded the free 1000/100 speed trial for me. Still paying $68 for 1000/100.

nice, im on superloop for $89 for 12 months and it is finishing next month so looking for a deal to change to.

      • Got the email from them yesterday about how they noticed they’re still proving 1000/100. Looks like they’re cracking down. Enjoy while it lasts

      • If you call Superloop they'll apply another 12m discount but you've got to do this every year which is a drag.

  • Total Minimum Cost is $299 ($119/mth plan fee + $180 modem cost = $299) if you cancel your internet service during the first month. Stay connected for 18 months and pay $0 for the modem (we’ll cover $10 for each month you stay connected). Excluding any promotional offers or discounts.

There are no plan cancellation fees. Please refer to the Critical Information Summary for further information.

    • +3

Yep. You can't opt out of their modem so effectively 18 month lock in

These are only good during the promo 6 months, on going prices are bad

    Use Netbargain website to compare

it’s really a no-brainer to go for the 1000/100 Ultrafast plan; same price as the 750/50, but double the download and upload speeds.

How exactly does 1000 Mbps work out to be double 750 Mbps?

Many users now complaining about Aussie Broadband's pricing, my new 500/50 plan is $95 per month, this iPrimus plan is even worse at $102 :(

No one stays loyal to one ISP
If you’re going to stay loyal and after cheap prices, go with Exetel and their $80/month

what the heck has happened to cheaper plans?
I'm not looking for a new provider at the moment but these prices look terrible, especially seeing as their cheapest option is $82p/m - that's crazy.

    • Despite NBN not increasing their wholesale costs, RSPs saw an opportunity to fleece more money from their customers wallets and boosted their prices to increase their bottom line. So while consumers were patiently waiting for the speed increase at no cost, RSP's basically gave us all a middle finger salute, knowing we had no choice but to pay up.

      • Can you give me an example? I'm a case study of one, but my ABB 1000/50 plan (which is now 1000/100) hasn't budged in price for about a year.

        • If you run a search through OZB you'll see the increased number of posts that cropped up in Aug/Sept. RSP's got ahead of the game and changed their pricing plans well in advance so no one really had a chance to make a note of the original pricing. But if you compare earlier OZB posts for the same RSP, you can compare the differences.

I only realised it was happening because I'd been looking in Jul/Aug for a new plan (as my promo pricing was due to expire) so I noticed the $ increase with a lot of the major players. Others on here noticed it also.

  • Isn't tpg cheaper for 1st 6 months

    • -1

      probably.

    • Be careful - TPG have been slapping on a fee for churning away from them. Only ISP I've encountered that do that.

  • with exetel one plan being 80 per month (500/50 plan) how can the others charge such high prices after 6 months?

    • because they are all criminals.

  • -1

    ARCTEL is cheaper again

  • NBN 100/17

That is a very niche plan…

  • is this is the same Primus that was around back in dialup days?
