Last two times I got this offer from CBA and tried to do it they took the money and gift card was “processing” for hours and then money just got reversed into my account without me doing anything. Not sure if it’s a special gift card or cba error.

I also had the same trouble.

      • +1

Yep, for the last Special deal this happened to me each time I attempted a purchase. I rang CBA twice and had their staff claim they would expedite the processing (not sure if that's actually possible or just a way to get rid of me). Still didn't process. Eventually gave up.

It's only been a problem since CBA rolled out their enhanced MFA where verification can only occur within the CBA app.

I'm sure I was charged a cash advance last time

I cannot screenshot from the app.

CBA made screenshotting more complicated in the recent update by hiding the functionality under the settings menu, and enforcing a 15 minute interval before it locks itself again.
To enable screenshotting for 15 minutes, tap the profile picture, scroll down to the settings section, tap accounts and security, tap "screen sharing" (It's the first item in the "security settings" section), and then finally toggle the switch for screen sharing to be enabled temporarily.

smh they really made us look into every nook and cranny wasting so much time just to take a simple screenshot

CBA says "Offer not eligible for gift card purchases for JB Hi-Fi and The Good Guys."

That's why I will buy a tech gift card
Special Gift Card has JB HI-FI cards, they have tech gift cards as well

  • Can I use this offer to buy a Supermarket Slayer card and then proceed to use that card to purchase a Gift Card at Woolies or Coles?

Hope someone can answer this, thank you!

    • +1

      I want to know too.

    • Yes, I have done this a couple of times.

Slayer is basically a prepaid card with specific limited MCC acceptance. It does not function like a normal gift card and therefore is not prevented from purchasing gift cards.

      • It does not function like a normal gift card and therefore is not prevented from purchasing gift cards.

        That is not always true.

For example, if you are purchasing some (but not all) gift cards in-store at Woolworths (e.g. Vanilla Mastercard gift card, eBay gift card, Everyday WISH gift card), the checkouts will automatically stop you from using a range of prepaid gift cards as payment methods, including:

        • Activ Visa gift cards and its various cousins (e.g. Category Choice Groceries gift cards, Zip Visa Groceries gift cards)
        • Coles/Vanilla Mastercard gift cards
        • (Vanilla) Visa gift cards
        • TCN eftpos gift cards
        • Perfect eftpos gift cards
        • Westfield eftpos gift cards
        • OnlyONE Visa gift cards

All these gift cards do not function like a normal gift card, because they are functionally Visa/Mastercard/eftpos cards, but attempting to use them to pay for some gift cards triggers a Cancelled - Items Not Allowed error from the checkout as soon as you swipe or tap them.

          Thanks for clarifying Wookie

      • Oh, so I am able to use this card, to let’s say go to Coles and purchase an Officeworks GC?

        • I had no problem buying Coles Myer gc instore at Coles using Slayer. I assume Officeworks wouldn't have any issue either.

  • Can these cards be used online? I want to purchase at Ikea and planning on getting the DIY Legend card.

    • Yep you can.
