EatClub is insane value. Easily the best "Dine Out" app I've ever used. This is my history apparently 😅

    • Do you know if adding restaurant choice and TCN restaurant gift cards on eatclub works?

      • +1

I haven't tested again recently but it worked sometime back linking the EatClub payment card with TCN Restaurant/Restaurant Choice.

        • For complete noob how to setup initially?

Is it like just linking credit card or TCN gift card to eat club app

And then when you make payment after eating the discount gets updated in total payment?

      • +3

yes it works - have been doing this.

      • +3

Restaurant Choice gift card works :)

        • do you know if restaurant choice works on uber eats, doordash and menulog ?

          • @SydOzber: Works on Doordash, but have not tried the other two.

Easily the best "Dine Out" app I've ever used

I don't dispute the offers are good value, but their marketing certainly flouts Australian Consumer Law:

      1. I have to pay a credit card surcharge at the venue, then eatclub takes another swipe (which they hide in their terms and conditions as between 1-6% 70c min). This can easily erode the net discount by 3% or more.
      2. They're quick to flout their promotions, eg in October they have an additional 1% accumulating to 5% discount, but again they buried a min spend of $25 in the fine print.
      3. The no show fee couldn't possible be legal in Australia. It's out of proportion with the cost they've actually incurred - you could go to the restaurant and spend $1.

All of these nuances make the whole app feel a little scammy. Funniest thing is, they're really easy to fix, but they company seems to be completely unaware or willing to look at these things.

The no show fee couldn't possible be legal in Australia. It's out of proportion with the cost they've actually incurred - you could go to the restaurant and spend $1.

It’s a penalty. It’s not meant to be in proportion. Maybe don’t save the offer if you don’t intend on showing up.

        • It’s a penalty

Makes them scummy … and i'd rather dine somewhere else than tolerate than BS.

          • @salmon123: Restaurants pay EatClub to fill seats. You don't fill seats. ???

            • @askbargain:

              Restaurants pay EatClub

Restaurants pay when a service is consumed. They don't pay anything for a no show. A restaurant can offer up additional eatclub slots at no cost if noshows are a legitimate problem. Unless you're running a fine-dine establishment with fixed tables places, no shows via eat club aren't an actual issue. If you're discounting your food on eat club and running that sort of establishment you've probably got other issues with your business.

              You don't fill seats.

This is pure profit play from eat club who gets 100% of the no-show penalty.

I think you're very naive if you think it's the restaurant is somehow being harmed by the no-show or that the restaurant is somehow compensated by the no-show fee.

If eatclub was serious about the no-show issue they would simply kick abusers off the platform (they have pretty good systems to detect multiple signups by the same person) instead of this silly penalty system.

@salmon123: Keep justifying your actions. Whatever helps your sleep at night.

                Facts are:

                1. There is a limited amount of offers each day. If you save offers and not show up, you are potentially taking someone's offer.

                2. Most businesses on EatClub are struggling. They sign up to EatClub hoping to fill tables. What's the benefit for them in having these offers if people like you can't take accountability?

                3. You saved the offer and you agreed to terms of service (clearly states the cancellation fee). Nobody is forcing you to use the platform.

You probably don't show up for doctor/dentist appointments but that's fine because no show no harm?

that the restaurant is somehow compensated by the no-show fee.

Restaurants pay a monthly fee. They expect something in return.

                • @askbargain:

                  Keep justifying your actions

Huh? What actions? Boycotting the app … yeah bro, the app sucks.

                  Facts are:

                  • your version of the facts.

You seem to be under the impression that I am somehow a serial no-shower. You also seem to be under the impression that the restaurants get the no-show fee. Neither is true.

I don't know what it is you're smoking but it seems to you affecting your cognitive abilities.

I don't like the no-show fee or card surcharges. I don't use the app. Simple.

        • +1

There could be a hundreds of reasons why a person might not be able to show up even if they intended to, common mate you can do better.

    • +1

Used to be good, but yeah the 'processing fee' cuts into the % amount. Also the $6 no show fee - this is a scam. The whole point of EatClub is how it's a 'walk-in offer', so to liken it to a traditional booking cancellation fee is absurd and yes, a potential contravention of Australian Consumer Law. Imagine charging 'booking cancellation' for 'walk-in' offers.

UberEats DineOut is the insane value here. No time restrictions unlike EatClub, no reserving offers well into advance (popular ones 'sell out' quickly, and if you don't have premium you can't get these at all. 50% is also huge and its applied at the merchant, there are also way better restaurants….

50% off Muum Maam, Lox in a Box, Raw Bar, Island Radio, Gazi, Chester White, Fabbrica, Tuga Pastries etc. All way higher caliber restaurants than those on EatClub. 30% off Catalina!!!!

This is coming from a longtime EatClub user and in the top 1% of users across the last 12 months…..

      • UberEats DineOut is the insane value here

Will check it out - thanks!

I find that restaurants selling discounted food are more or less the same across various apps - eatclub, first table, groupon, entertainment book, etc.

Often the decision just comes down to whichever app has a slight edge or promotions. The scummy behaviour on eatclub swings it against them.

a potential contravention of Australian Consumer Law. Imagine charging 'booking cancellation' for 'walk-in' offers.

Not to mention the disclosure of the fee which is buried in the fine print and only disclosed prominently after a booking.

I also just discovered another gem about how they're unable to process refunds back to the funding card. what the actual-f.

This is the best app. Great savings. Give it a crack!

I've been really impressed with this app. The deals are genuine and I've been impressed with the service too.

I had a few failed payments at the POS at a venue, received a call from Eatclub within 15 mins. It turns out the Eatclub venue was upstairs not the downstairs place I went to.
There wasn't anything they could do but was still cool they called to check it out straight away.

I've eaten at several places that probably wouldn't have got my business otherwise (and enjoyed them).

Code just worked on a takeaway deal too

  • +1

Not sure if any existing users got this, but I was targeted for $15 off using code BITEBACK - valid till 31st October. It came up in the app and was in an email sent on Thursday.

    • Not sure if it's strictly enforced, but for targeted codes in the e-mail they do specify if anyone used without receiving the targeted e-mail it'll flag as unauthorized use (can't remember the exact wording). Not sure if they actually do anything about it though.

You can use PRO88 instead that works for everyone

        • Thanks! Any min spend and expiry date?

          • @Craze: Pretty sure $15 min spend and expires 31st December

  • +3

Use the code PRO88 and you get $15 off, was handed a flyer the other day so assume works for everyone

    • What state?

Just tried in QLD and says not valid

Would be only for new users right?

      • Should work in all states, if not can email them and ask for a refund of the $15, it is only for new users

    • Thank you very much, worked in Melbourne.

    • can this be stacked with the $10 in OP ?

      • Don't think so but you can try

  • I wish there were more eligible places in SA with this app.

Also, the "admin fee" kind of kills it.

    • There’s a lot more places in SA now than there used to be and it is regularly being updated which is super exciting!

  • Love this app! It’s so easy to use and discreet. Doesn’t require much planning ahead unlike other apps do.

  • Amazing! Thanks OP. First time hearing of this APP, Just scored a 'Southern Fried Chicken Burger w. Thick Cut Chips' for $4.10 in Brisbane City.

App feels a bit scammy with their surcharges and no show fees.

Negging the deal in the vein hope someone from the company takes notice.

  • not working with new account, not working with the account that was created a while back but no order qas places
