  • VESA mount compatible?

    • Says 100x100 VESA

    • I needed to buy some extenders from AliExpress as the VESA mount on the monitor is recessed in the plastic.

    • Initial batch didnt come with spacers, but later shipments include the spacers needed to VESA mount with the recessed mounting points. (At least, mine in the second batch did.)

  • Someone convince me to upgrade from my Lenovo R45W

I'm an idiot who thought bigger monitor meant more screen realestate but how I was wrong, why I didn't take it back I don't know.

  • Is this better or dual monitor setup?

Currently using Lenovo dq32c -20 and on the fence between dual monitor or one big wide screen.

    • +1

I prefer an ultra wide. I use powertoys to manage windows so I can have my main app open in the middle and 2 smaller ones side by side.
I use powertoys as I like the middle one to be bigger than what the windows 11 built in one does.

If you have the space: both! :)

I have 40" 5K2K + matching 32" 4K, and it's nice! Your 32" wont be a ppi match - I would use it as a secondary portrait screen off to the side (or mount it above the ultrawide).

I'll share my feedback on this monitor as someone that has had it for 5 months now.

I hate Kogan and honestly thought I'd never buy from Kogan but very happy (even forgetting how much cheaper this is comparatively).

My use-case is 90% productivity and 10% gaming, I'm very much a casual gamer and although I do like things to look nice without sitting side-by-side to something else I'm satisfied.

I went from a 32-inch LG 4k and a 27-inch AOC 4k vertical to this, I often work either in wide spreadsheets or DB tables and love being able to make it the full width without spanning across two monitors. Mainly use macOS but for gaming use windows. Windows I use the built-in scaling but for Mac to achieve HiDPi I use BetterDisplay, this program enables you to run the panel at native resolution but then set a custom resolution for a "virtual" display that is then mirrored to the real display. A bit confusing and sounds convoluted but actually works great. I run the virtual display at 4096x1728 as for me this is a nice size of everything.

For me, not a massive display snob but can still appreciate, the comparison to this vs my old LG UltraFine Ergo IPS is much the same. If I was doing a lot of image editing might be a different story but honestly I'd just use my MBP display for that.

TL;DR Meets my productivity needs and at 1/3 of the price of a similar (but not identical) LG or Dell I'm happy.

    • Do you find that a 40" ultrawide 4K is smaller than a 32" QHD though? - i.e. for things like xbox, does it fill this out or have black bars?

      • +1

I believe Xbox doesnt support ultrawide, so yes it will be pillarboxed.

But a 40" 21:9 ultrawide is effectively a 32" 16:9 stretched out wider. So 16:9 Xbox output on the 40" ultrawide should be effectively the same size as the 32", but will be higher resolution (the 40" will be effectively a 32" 4K in the middle of black bars, so same size but higher resolution than the 32" QHD).

If you mean ppi, then yes, the 40" ultrawide will be higher ppi than a 32" QHD, so everything, like fonts and icons, will display as a smaller size (if you dont use scaling).

      • Don’t think I could explain it better than @caprimulgus!

But this 40” ultrawide is the same physical height as my old LG 32” but with more width
