  • $1150?

  • Would this perform well as a desktop monitor?

Yes but maybe the 42" is better as it's still quite huge but it really depends on how deep your desk is.

My LG C2 42" is the greatest tech purchase I've ever made. It's around 80cm distance from my eyes at normal typing position and 100% scaling is fine for my eyes.

      Yes with a few caveats.

I’m on my 2nd 48 Oled as a monitor and it’s great but definitely prone to burn in.

48” is too big for a standard depth 60cm desk, you’ll need to go bigger/deeper.

It’s absolutely amazing for video or high graphics, cinematic games (Forza Horizon, Jedi Fallen Order, Control, Cyberpunk 2077 and Hogwarts Legacy have all looked stunning), but if you're using it for productivity and/or a lot of white screen I’d suggest looking elsewhere.

6500+ hours of use on my C2 with 0 burn in.

Are you leaving the highest brightness on with static images?

        • I had a CX from Jan ‘21 until about march this year (in the bin now so no idea on hours), and now a C4 since then.

Black background, no icons, hidden task bar, mostly gets used for full screen games (varying so no issue with static elements).

Both of them presented burn in (or image retention, call it whatever) particularly around the edges of windows (relatively small amounts of web browsing, documents, file management etc.) The new C4 started within a couple of months.

It’s mostly not noticeable but now anytime a video or game pans across snow or sky there’s noticeable shadow lines.

@SanguinarySeraph: CX series more prone to burn in than the later series.

I think that the fact you got burn in with a C4 which is known to be very resilient to it means something else is up. Do you have sunlight hitting the panel at all? Do you have HDR mode on with highest brightness for hours on end with static image?

            • @studentl0an: No sunlight on the panel, but some sunlight behind in the early morning, HDR yes, and relatively high brightness.

The worst it gets is some repetition of windows for maybe 30 mins at a time each day while web browsing etc, but then cycling through other content like fullscreen games.

Maybe I just got unlucky…twice. Or maybe I'm just more sensitive to the picture than some…but it's definitely there and if anything the C4 has shown issues FAR quicker (2 months rather than 2 years).

I've got over 12,000 hours on my cx, has had a web browser open on it everyday for like 10 hours for the last few years and 0 burn in. Max brightness too. I do have some pixels dying on the top border

        • When you display a full grey screen, you don't see any shadowing?
          That's pretty good.

          • @eug: Just checked and no shadowing. I think I lucked out with this unit, it's taken a few hits with a lacrosse ball too when I've been playing with the dog and its survived each time lol

    • yep, typing this while viewing on a C3 48". i wish it was 50 or 55 but it's good. 42" would be too small for me imho. i have a standard desk, not an issue but mine is wall mounted about 6" above the desk.
