Might be an ATL on the sapphire pro gen 2 version of this watch. Already a couple years old but still holds up spec wise to Garmin's latest flagship model.

  • Been looking for a 42mm black but they're never on sale

    • The white/gold 42mm was this price on Kogan just a couple of weeks ago. I managed to get JB to price match it. I am sure it will drop again soon, doubt many people are buying this model.

Buyer beware: This won't receive the same level of updates as newer flagship models as it's not getting Garmin's newest codebase (which is what all new models are receiving). So it's basically already part of their 'planned obsolescence' list of devices.

    F8 or bust.

    • Does the forerunner 965 get it?

    • While true, it's current feature set is pretty impressive. Not really sure what future software updates would provide?

      • Imagine buying a top of the line Mac or Windows laptop, iPhone, Samsung, PS5, Xbox etc, only to find it was already sitting on the edge on EOL support before you even open the box.

Impressive feature set? Yeah, that's fair. It's a beast of a watch, that much is certain. But that feature set is basically obsolete and redundant if it's never going to get any legitimate focus from Garmin devs when it comes to updating and improving the current OS. Sure, you'll get some minor updates for bug fixes and security, but when your 'brand new' watch isn't even on the list to receive new features because they're being prioritised for newer models on the new codebase, spending close to $1000 on any device (and I can really only speak for myself here) is a good chunk of coin being burnt. If I had a disposable income though, I wouldn't care - I'd just buy it. Sadly, that's not me.
