      • not since 2013

        • -2

it will always be cityfail lol no matter what name they call it.

        It's called Shitty Trains now

Heard this on the kick it forward podcast, absolutely brilliant transport hack haha

at least link the original video…

Knew it would be these guys before clicking the link.

  • +4

Gonna need a pretty flexible start time looking at the timetable.

  • +4

This is how I foresee it

    • When I saw those buses in Bankstown, they were pretty much empty.

      • +1

        Gonna get ozbargained now

  • +1

What is that, what was that.

  • +8

Saw this on TikTok didn't you?

    • I did 🤣

  • +2

Do they have slot machines on the bus to numb the pain of hitting potholes on the way?

  • +2

These buses do actually fill up quick and there's no way to reserve it from what I've been told by the bus company.

Wouldn't rely on it entirely unless you've got spare time.

    • +2

      half the office does it

  • Damn that's an amazing hack.

  • +7

Transport cost was the thing that stopped me from gambling my money. Thank you, Star Casino.

  • i wonder if they let you stop or get on/from say Bankstown to Ashfield or Ashfield to Bankstown

    • +1

Just press emergency stop "RED" button and say Sorry.

    • Back in the day you paid the driver $10 and then once you got the cas they gave you a $10 voucher.
      That was a while ago…

  • +13

If there is anyone to date that has been exploiting this one, honestly, bless you, and I feel sorry that you're now likely going to lose this privilege thanks to a podcast and Ozbargain.

Hope you've been using the savings on big bets and not beating the house…

  • +2

Not nice to label those areas as degenerate

    • +2

Whoa, is that someone on ozbargain with a conscience??

  • +22

If you taking up the spot on the bus of a potential problem gambler than you are literally helping them. A form of community service

  • +1

Go to work or go to Star instead, nice.

    • +1

2 Birds…. WFS [Work From Star]

      • +3

easily with virtual background. "let's double down… uh i mean let's double down on the strategy next quarter"

      • You can't be a member of you work for Star. Conflict of interest. Though we get $10-$13 parking on site for staff members.

      • 3 birds - hit up some escorts at the casino.

  • +1

Soon you may have to pre-paid then get back in non-negotiable chips when you are there.

  • +4

This is one of the things that will go away once it starts being well known and abused. (Well it wont go away, but they will make you need the second lowest member tier instead of the bronze one)

    • +2

Yea exactly i don't know why you would bother to post it.

    • +4

Honestly if it makes it less easy for those suffering from gambling harm to reach the casino maybe that isn't such a bad thing…

      • +2

The ones with a gambling addiction wont be affected. The people that just go there for cheap bingo day and coffees are more likely to be.

        • +1

Exactly - an addict will always make sure they get their fix but the elderly friends that go out once a month won't.

    • More likely it will gain media attention to the fact that problem gambling is being encouraged and then govt will ban it the same way giving free drinks to gamblers is illegal.

  • Good to see the key suburbs for their laundry members sorted I see

  • The star is really nowhere near the cbd though, so unless you work in Pyrmont, you’ll be adding another 20 mins of walk to the travel time on top.

    • +1

thats 20 mins of free exercise that make our waist line sexier

  • +2

(profanity). This was my emergency transport when trains are down.

  • Nice try. Take the bus and never go into The Star (except collecting the membership card. Though I did dine in a few times before).

  • Similarly I found out today that there is a free shuttle service between Melbourne aiport and DFO.

  • +1

tell you what, 50c fares in brisbane is awesome, i hope its adopted across Australia!

    • +1

That's what would really get public transport usage up. Like the Sunday Funday deal they had in NSW.

      • ive never been a public transport person up here but since they introduced it ive done a few trips to the city and even gold coast, can get from sunnybank to the beach for just $1 like meters to the beach where the tram stop is. its bloody awesome.

  • high gambling population?

    • Yes I'd imagine the Star did their research and the bulk of their customer base live in those areas and hence the shuttle services

  • +1

    Thanks, Tinder date sorted

  • The flipside to this is people who live in Pyrmont get a free bus service to culturally rich destinations like Cabra, Bankstown and Campsie (ie. places with good food)
