How did you get the gold number for free?

What’s a gold number?

has some doubles or tripple of the same digits next to eachother

Does 4 consecutive count? I got one on one of my throwaway Lyca SIMs and I ported to Amaysim PAYG for a year while I decide if I want to change to it lol

Oh, what people pay extra for that?

@BatmanAU: yeah, some would. When I worked at optus people often asked to look at the list of premium numbers

@Churna: Yeah I can understand saying have you got any cool numbers, but paying for it? That I don’t. Unless you had a business and the numbers spelt it out, then absolutely

@BatmanAU: Thats why its a great deal since you can get it for free now especially if you have thought of paying for one

@BatmanAU: it was mostly nationalities that value number and luck. A bunch of chinese customers wanted as many 8's as possible for example

Any deals for no data? Just need something for emergencies if people need to reach me via phone?

Aldi mobile, $15 p. annum, pay per call or per SMS from the $15, top it up if you use it up. Telstra wholesale.

Hmm, Amaysim gives 80Gb for $15, not sure if this is a bargain

Well this comes with $15 credit for international calls.
Good flex option if need both.

Doesn't sound cheap at all

Care to elaborate?

Serious sim sluts wouldn't dream of entertaining this 'deal', a quick check found this option for $11 which you can also port into, and there are always new deals coming which are way better than this.

I budget $5 per month for mobile and, calculated annually, never exceed it, I'm not negging it but it's not a deal.

Read the T&C's - if you go over your allocated data for the month, they don't throttle your data, they start your next month's plan and start using that data. Bit sneaky IMO.
Uses the Optus network also which will be no good if you care about your privacy!

I had a nightmare experience of changing my number — never realised how many services are attached to mobile number these days. Won't do it again unless someone pays me to lol

This is for new numbers only lol

Yes, changed my main number to a new one.

Well that wasn't a good idea.
Just use this in a DUAL SIM mobile as 2nd number. Been doing that with many 28d Boost & Amaysim SIMs for years.
 eSim available
Always kept my original phone number over 15 years. So never had those hassles.

Yeah I wouldn't go through that. A secondary number would be the best lol

@Serathis: There's no point in getting a gold number and not using it everywhere. I thought the free number is the point of this deal.

@Alley Cat: Yes & then you can PORT that Gold Tier Number to another Telco!
Use that number as you wish. Even as main number.
Amaysim has been handy to park a number for over 1 year at little cost. Receiving incoming calls & SMS.
Handy to sign up for offers.

Not golden number at all, sheet number.

i don’t see any option to get a gold number for free??

I see you need to pay for some numbers now

Great deal!! Got myself a great secondary number for only $35.

Same I picked up some numbers. SIM plan is cheap enough to keep around.

Many of my searches returns with 0 results, is there any other place we can in general search for additional numbers?

Something to consider if you get a new number through them
From their promotional T&C
"Total minimum cost
Total minimum cost for New Number Special Plan is $15.
If you applied for a new number with E.Tel, a $20 number fee applies if you transfer your service to another provider within the first 6 months.
This fee does not apply if you disconnect your service.
"
"Porting Policy: If you applied for a new number with E.Tel, a $20 number handling fee applies if you port the service away to another provider
within 6 months. This fee does NOT apply if you ported-in your number or if you disconnect your service."

Can you disconnect then resurrect it?

lovely, got a very good combination gold number cheers

Of course most of the 8888s are now gone! There were still a couple when I checked yesterday !

Is it only a starter kit? What is the ongoing monthly fee? Any data banking?
thanks
Thanks OP, was just looking to change my number and got a gold number for free.
