  • 10.94% with Plus. 2% more with Westpac group cards.

  • What you mean by " maximise cashback for multi leg journey and 1+ passenger, book every leg of journey separately for each passenger " ?

If 5 passengers then we book 5 separate tickets and book one way for each leg so 10 times booking? All will be sitting on different seats then

    • Probably due to the $50 cap per booking (does not appear to have any T&C about cap is per account).

Need to work out what combination works best to maximise your savings. If 2 passengers returns very close to $50 cashback then book 2 passengers. Or if 1 passenger but 2-leg flight trip gets you closest to $50 cashback then that might be the best option.

For seats, in my experience with Virgin flights you just need to be quick. I have booked separate bookings for myself and my family due to flight credits and instances where part is paid by work. And we managed to select seats next to each other.

Good luck and (many thanks OP).

I would not recommend booking a multi leg trip as separate bookings.
If two flights are on the same day and flight 1 is delayed/cancelled, you basically forfeit the second flight.

If both flights are on the same ticket and flight 1 is delayed/cancelled, virgin will re-accommodate you so that you get to your destination.

    • Very valid point! This happened to me a few months back, and the accommodation was paid for along with a cab (to/from airport to hotel) and food from Virgin. Definitely wouldn't recommend booking separately for multi-leg flights if this is important to you.

how do you get Additional 2% Virgin Australia bonus cashback (activation required)? I can't find that anywhere

  • of course just booked this week..

    • Same haha. Though it was Jetstar so arguably worse. Paid over $100 less though, so cashback would have reduced the gap to ~$60, but every $ counts nowadays.

      • I guess this was released only as virgin sale expired. So it couldn't be combined
