      fully automated machines are the worst to service and clean. consitancy of grind isn't very good most of the time as well. you can only really use dark roasted or medium to dark, you can't use light roasts, so it all depends on what you want.

        I don't particularly enjoy the coffee from automatics - it's very different to espresso which is my own preference - but I disagree that they're hard to clean. It's a matter of descaling every 3 months, and cleaning the infuser & chamber every couple of days. No more or less work than my espresso machine. Servicing is also pretty straightforward for Delonghi automatics at least.

          If you setup an automatic properly, it can make great coffee…

            @jv: You're right, it's easy to make crap coffee from a manual espresso machine, but the difference is pretty obvious in the hands of someone capable. On the other hand, superautomatics will very consistently make an alright coffee, with very little room for change.

              @wintermadness: Not true. You can adjust the grind, how much water and the temperature and of course the beans. Can make a very good cup of coffee. Better than most coffee shops.

      Depends…less work for a quick cup. But its pressurised basket coffee, and will never be as good as the Kmart deal coffee (with a non pressurised basket).

      If convenience= enjoyment ..yes

      • Hot tips -Never make your shot more than 45ml (that's less than 1/5th of a cup).

      Steam your milk first. Thermoblocks can't keep even temp heating up, but they maintain it ok cooling down.

    Golly we love our superautomatic

    We swapped out our delonghi for a Philips because we couldn't just do frothed milk on its own on the Delonghi.
    This one looks as though it does do hot milk on its own- not sure about the froth

    Babychinos are a must for us

    We purchased this machine over a year ago for our workplace there is 6 coffee drinkers and can't rate it enough the coffee is great easy to maintain. We replaced the pod machine which we had for a year and this blows it away in taste. For the price it is definitely worth it.
