  • Any good alternatives on Aliexpress ?

Im looking at doing 50m around the garden.

      This strip is not outdoor.
So for outdoor alternative Philips Hue Outdoor Strip.

For 3rd party strip - I would check BTF Lightning.

For 3rd party controller - Gledopto used to do Hue compatible controllers but I saw complains on Reddit from people who lost compatibility later. So do own research before committing to 3rd party controllers.

For Hue fans keep an eye on Bunnings. I just got a heap of RGB GU10s for $7 each

      Wow thats awesome.. which bunnings?

      • Was Singleton NSW

    • Can you share the item number please?

Got free delivery with one pass at Bunnings (same price)

  • I get it that the Hues are gold standard. But are there any cheaper alternatives that has similar colour ranges? Currently have a mix of brands and they don’t give similar colours.

    • If you are talking about color range I assume you are asking about led strip.
For a lot of people BTF Lightning is pretty good.

But pay attention to wattage if you are going to use it with the original Philips Hue Led Strip controller.

  • What sort of places would you use this?

I have 3 light strips at home - behind the tv as a backlight, in the study behind my desk, and under the kitchen counter. I almost never use roof lights - strip lights give a much nicer ambient glow to the room. I recommend buying one and experimenting to see if you like it. I definitely have no regrets with my use so far though.

      • I have light strips behind my bed and under the bed. Automate it to turn on before bed and sets bedroom mood lighting

      • Might give it a go for behind the tv at this price. Did you need to get any other hooks or different adhesive or did the supplied ones do the trick?

        • +1

My one behind my tv is a different brand, but they all come with adhesive. Mine is technically fixed to a kallax bookshelf under the tv, so i don’t have it directly fixed to the tv unit. Can’t offer much help for direct fixing to the tv sorry!
