Good price, but note the cheapest fare doesn’t include a checked bag.

      Indeed, as per the description

    • Time to challenge your packing abilities, I suppose!

    • Cheapest fare plus the 50k status gifted to one’s self = 3 x 32kg worth of luggage. See you bargain hunters in Whistler

  • Sweet! I've been looking at going to Calgary next year so this works in well. Thanks OP!

    • :)

    • Cool runnings

  • Damn that's a good deal, definitely recommend a Canada trip to anyone on the fence

  • $1200 to visit India? Count me in.

Dunno why you're downvoted. Certain areas are completely unrecognisable as Canadian.
Should also check out the drug epidemic in Canada. Check out Hastings Street.
Each house has a needle pack for opioid overdose.

Air Canada is one of the worst airlines. In my experience, the ones i had were worse than jetstar.

Got back recently from Canada via Air Canada. Worst experience ever. Shocking food. Absolutely woke airline. Would take Jetstar over it any day of the week!! Unfortunately I got $1200 in AC flight credit to use up after their debacle with my flight otw there, so guess I'll be flying with them again sometime soon :(

Try and push for a refund instead. Mention the trauma caused by them.

    • I agree. I've flown both Qantas and Air Canada Melbourne to Toronto and the Qantas trip was far more enjoyable than air canada. More leg room, decent food, blankets, eye masks, even a self-serve kiosk of free snacks (including fruit and veg) from the galley.

Air Canada was uncomfortable, poor food, limited baggage and an older, louder plane.

I paid $1600 for my return flight to Toronto recently, including bags.

If you can stretch your budget a little I would recommend Qantas.

Qantas is about $150 more and you get checked bags.

      • But flying Qantas (from melbourne) would mean you have to transfer in LAX, no? Transferring in LAX is horrible in my experience. Last time I went that way was 2013 and I'll continue to avoid it and other US transfers whenever possible (regardless of who the president is, it sucked under Obama in 2013 and it sucked under Bush the first time I went through back in 2005).
I've always found Vancouver a very easy airport to get along with, you don't have to collect your bags and go through security again at another terminal when you transfer. Just go through passport control and walk to your next gate.
Ever since Air Canada started their Brisbane flights that's the only way I've travelled to Canada, they use a 787 on that route which I've always liked, and certainly quieter and more comfortable than 10 across cattle class in an old 777. I can get from Brisbane to Edmonton with a single painless transfer in Vancouver.
The food is crap, but then I don't remember ever enjoying the food with any airline.

        • We flew from Melbourne to Dallas, then on to Toronto. On the return leg we'll be flying via Vancouver, then Sydney then Melbourne.

I was hoping to avoid the US transfer also, but even with their government shut down getting through Dallas was fairly painless. Checked bags were carried forward so we didn't need to deal with that, just took an hour or so to go through immigration and security like you've mentioned.

My previous transfer through San Francisco was also painless so I won't actively avoid the US transfer in the future unless they turn into a dystopia (which I wouldn't rule out!)

Of course I've heard horror stories as well!

          • @APD2022: Maybe it's just LAX then. Its just such an enormous monstrosity of an airport.

Good price! go for it. We flew Air Canada this year to Vancouver and the economy food service left a lot to be desired. Sandwiches wrap in glad wrap .. so all dry. And there is only 1 main meal for the 14 hours flight and the quality is poor. Just so you know!

Canadians have a joke that Air Canada's motto is 'We're not happy until you're not happy'

      jetstar should copy this

  • Did fly Air Canada 8 years ago with the wife and 9 month old albeit in business Syd-Vancouver and thought the food and service was excellent. Have heard it's a different story in Economy.
