Amazing prices honestly but I definitely wish around the world flights were.. you know, not just America and Europe

    • Dream RTW itinerary?

      • -5

        India -> Morocco -> Colombia

        • +2

Whoever negging this has no idea of travel! The world doesn’t revolve around 1st world countries!

          • +1

@Flyin: This isn’t an alliance RTW. You can’t expect one airline to service every destination of your choosing, unless of course you have “no idea of travel”.

          • @Flyin: Yeah well they are running a business not a personal service.

          • @Flyin: not being first world is not the reason anyone is negging it

        • +2

@ThirtySixNights was asked for a dream rtw itinerary, and they gave it. The fact that no alliance group does this, or that it isn't a volume route is irrelevant (and certainly not worthy of a neg). It's their pref, and that's exactly what was asked of them.

      • I think just last year the deals included an East Asia city.

      • I'd go for anything that didn't force travel to USA. Something via South America, Mexico, Canada would be great.

    • +1

I'm busy wishing they were only Europe haha

    • +2

How about Perth —> Pyongyang —> Tehran —> Pretoria —> Caracas —> Perth

that would definitely be something different…

  • +12

And Canada or Latin America rather than, you know, ‘America’.

  • +19

Given the current news cycle, RTW itinerary/planner should have an additional routing option to go-around US and divert into CAN instead. More chill, lovely bunch of folks
Burner phones pick-up stops should be added if it must route into US

    • I agree

    • Why do you need a burner phone if stopped in the US?

      • -1

In case border control checks your phone and find anti Trump memes. Yes, they do sometimes check your phone, but the anti-Trump stuff "might" be an exaggeration.

      • +1

Been living under a rock? CBP and ICE are out of control endorsed by the current US administration

    • +2

This is simply not possible for this offer, Singapore Airlines only operates from Frankfurt to JFK in terms of that transatlantic segment and they dont operate into Canada anymore.

You can simply pick up another internal flight from JFK to YYZ for example and from YVR to SEA/LAX/SFO to then continue on SQ

    • +1

The Australian border force can also sieze your phone and laptop and scan them and they also don't need a reason or a search warrant. Alas, no burner phones in Aus.

      • +5

But they are unlikely to do it unless you trigger off serious alarm bells, not just that you said some “mean things” about Albo.

        • Sometimes, sometimes no - I was recently pulled for further security screening due to my travel history (very frequent, short trips to S.E asia including more prolific nations etc) even though I hold ABTC and Global Entry through Home Affairs they still asked to see all of my personal electronics including my laptop and phone.

After 30 minutes or so I was allowed to leave but it does seem to be something thats either predetermined or its reviewed by ABF and they do decide to select you for whatever reason. If you have nothing to hide then its fine but it is becoming more frequent.

A colleague of mine was observing a team of 6 ABF officers taking off passengers in Tullamarine coming off a QR flight after entering the terminal and conducting random secondary screening (just a small interview of sorts, like as if you are entering into the US) and taking people away for whatever reason. I have personally witnessed this before also from a QR flight but a smaller group of 4 and walked right past but didnt care to listen into what they were asking.

          • @AircraftFreight: Very frequent short trips to SE Asia are likely to ring some alarm bells. Obviously you are innocent, at least I assume so. :)

I guarantee none of what you have seen has been caused by people being mean about Albanese in social media.

          • @AircraftFreight: Wow, that's really shocking. When did that come in?

      • +2

I don't fear ABS. I have nothing to do hide from them if I am searched. If I am mistreated or arrested for anything, I have contacts in Australia I can call for assistance without stressing as I will most likely end up fine. I also happen to have been a security guard at the airport while in university so I'm very familiar with the processes here.

I do fear CBS and ICE in the US. I have plenty to hide from them as I openly talk shit about their organizations and the current administration endorsing them online. I don't have any contacts for protection in the US.

      • Seems quite draconian and news to me. When did this come in, and why? What countries still protect individual privacy rights?

        • What countries still protect individual privacy rights?

You're in the wrong country to be asking that mate. Soon you'll need a loicense just to ask it.

  • Can also stopover in tokyo before or after LA

  • Is there a trick to finding flights?
I was considering flying out for ADL early December (7th) and back after Xmas or New Year arriving / leaving Germany, Amsterdam etc and a handful of other European cities. I just don’t want long layovers unless it’s cheap to spend a night or two somewhere . Ideally booked through a reliable carrier so if my flight connection is late they can reschedule at no cost.

All the flights I find are like $3300 return (adds up with a family).

    • You won't get cheaper over December booking months out over the holiday period

    • +2

cheaper if u can stopover somewhere for a day or two, or leave a few days earlier

      e.g.
Leave Wed 3 Dec at 7pm
      ADL —> DPS Jetstar = $300 (+$50 for visa)

Look for flights leaving DPS on 5/6/7
      e.g.
Sat 6 Dec flights to Amsterdam on Xiamen Air or China Southern for ~$470
other european destinations around the same price or a bit more

or Thu 4 Dec at 6am
ADL —> SIN via DPS on Jetstar = $500
Flight to Amsterdam on the 6th is ~$520 on Turkish airlines

So basically 800-1100 on the way there

way back is a little bit harder, can't see anything cheaper or close to below

london or amsterdam to Melbourne on the 30th (minimum 10h including New years in Shanghai) ~$820
or amsterdam on 31st with 6.5h in Shanghai

Melbourne to adelaide whenever for ~$150
      so about 1k

So overall can do <2k but have to stay in melbourne and either bali or singapore

  • +4

Any deal flights for central America or South America?

  • +1

Errr, anyway for the US to be avoided ? fly to JFK, 8 weeks free accomodation in ICE jail ?

I guess if your skin is just that bit too dark (insert Family Guy meme) you do get a free trip to Africa /s

  • I'd not fly to the US with the orange cheeto in office, even if it's a 99% discount

  • +1

    Round the world my foot!

  • Can this be done by flying straight from Frankfurt to Singapore then home? Thanks.

    • Only getting home via a transit stop in the Americas

      • -2

If the transit stop in the Americas was in Canada then it would be a good option. Loved my time in Canada. We’ve done a bit of US travel, including being in the US when 911 happened, and most of the border control guys I’ve dealt with have been unpleasant.

Never felt unwelcome in Europe; in Italy we got waved through and they didn’t even check our passports. We did the grand tour with my mum in 2000. Europe and the USA. When we got back to Australia they pulled us out for a special check and the guy was cordial and even opened the front pocket in mum’s suitcase that she had locked, and lost the key to, before we left Australia.

There are some lovely Americans but right now I wouldn’t risk dealing with their bureaucracy.

  • Good morning dreamers

  • Can you use points for these trips?

  • -1

Damn if this was just a europe to europe in that same period I'd book. Forget americas!

  • -1

Tempting but is USA even safe to visit?

    • -6

      Safer than Melbourne.

  • 15 day lay over! classic!
