You’d be getting less than 0.5% for most cards so usually a higher discount will almost always be better.

1 QFF point per $1 on our main card, so worth it for me. Can get Amazon via super swap for 2.5% discount too I believe. But for the majority, maybe you have a point.
Not to mention the cc churners among us, who need to reach certain spends in the first 2 or 3 months etc… gift cards are an excellent way to obtain these points.

@HappyPants: You can amazon gift card thru qantas marketplace for 3 points per $1 plus the 1 point you earn of your card.
Depends on how you use your points but 3% off on macquarie is probably better anyway.- 1
@HappyPants: What annual fee are you paying to get 1point per dollar? And gotta remember points are a fake currency at the mercy of whatever arbitrary devaluing manipulation qantas decides to pull at any time they choose. Same for all points systems.
The main drawback with gift cards is your funds are locked to that store. Jb is big enough and do price matching, so it’s probably a non issue, but something to bear in mind. If you need to refund later, you will only ever get gift cards back in hand.

I just finished adding TopCashback to the gift card wiki. If you were wondering, it only took me around 10 minutes, as I wrote a Python script a while ago that converts that wiki page's Dokuwiki table into a .csv file that can then be edited in Excel (and I wrote another Python script to convert the edited .csv file back into a Dokuwiki table).
The gift card wiki can be updated if/when more retailers are added.

- This script is to convert data from .csv back to Dokuwiki
Keep in mind that I have to update the replace functions every so often, as I assume the Dokuwiki table to be formatted in a certain way (but some community members occasionally make formatting changes that I would then need to reflect in the script).

Thanks OP. May be a silly question but is there capped limit to how much you can spend with gift cards? Planning to buy 4K worth of IKEA PAX wardrobe. First time paying through GC

Theoretically there should be no limit, however some people (including myself) have experienced issues trying to redeem multiple IKEA gift cards online in the past. Others have had no probem at all.
Hopefully they've fixed this known issue by now.

Buying in store? Just split the parts into multiple transactions. However, I don't think you'll actually hit a limit.

Not really sure why anyone would bother with a measly ~1% at Coles, especially when the gift card is often hard to scan and frustrates the workers and customers.

Coles <2% is a waste of time and money as you can get that cashback rate instantly with the HSBC card (for now).

If you are having trouble scanning it, you are doing it wrong. Add it to an app like Supercards or to your digital wallet and it works flawlessly.

Just a warning not to use the Paypal Express checkout with Pay-in-4, instead enter your details normally and then select Pay-in-4 during the final payment stage.
The Express checkout option created a duplicate Pay-in-4 plan which auto-cancelled and confused the order.- 0
Thought I would try paying in the portal with a prepaid Coles MasterCard Gift Card but couldn't get it to work. Same card worked as normal to buy gift cards with ShopBack.

Buyer beware: transaction was processed by RUNA NETWORK LIMITED SEVENOAKS GB. Subsequently international transaction fee was charged negating all cash back benefit.

Hi. This is currently in the process of being fixed by our gift card provider Runa. All affected orders will have the fees refunded directly to the credit card or as approved cashback in your TopCashback account within the next week or so.
Until resolved, I kindly suggest using a PayPal account that has funds in it, or use a credit card that does not charge international fees.
Please accept my/our apologies, as this issue was not envisaged and was obviously not our intention to deceive. This is the reason for the soft launch, to hopefully iron out all bugs.

Thanks TA. My comment was intended as PSA. Happy to remove once the issue is resolved. Could you please clarify on the fees refund - do we have to contact you/Runa with transaction details? As the fees are a different %% depending on the card used.

Hi again and thanks. At this stage there’s no need to contact them as they will be able to identify the affected orders and process accordingly.
Unless I’m mistaken, cards are being charged either 3.0% or 3.5% of the order value, but only once the credit card moves the order to approved, rather than upon purchase where it sits at pending.

Sorry, but unfortunately not yet. Will comment in this thread when it is. In the meantime, you can use fee-free credit cards and also PayPal with funds in it. I've also tested with two different debit cards and was not charged any fees. All the best :)

I tried with my 28 degrees card but it was declined. I got an SMS from Latitude asking if the transaction was me, I replied that it was and got a message saying the card had been unblocked, but it still didn't work. I contacted Latitude and was told that it was declined because the email address I was using for the transaction didn't match that on my credit card account, but that they removed that restriction and it would work. Still doesn't work. I changed the email address to be the one I use for my credit card account but it was still declined. I tried 2 other cards (NAB and BoM) but they were both declined, and I can't be bothered trying to contact them to fix it.

Hey guys, hope you are all well ☺️
Just a quick note that we’ve changed gift card providers overnight and moved from Runa to Tillo (12/06/2026).
You should see a lot of improvements, including finally doing away with unwelcome O/S transaction fees, immediate cashback approval, wider range of cards (with more to come), speed, and overall look & feel of the UI.
There will initially be a minimum $15 cart requirement in order to check out, but this may be reduced at a later stage.
If you use the TopCashback app, please note you must update to the latest version to access the Gift Card portal.
I kindly ask that you please provide any feedback in the comments (good or bad) and I’ll be sure to pass them on.
