  • The website lists ‘last chance to buy’ maybe it’s just a clearance price?

Last I heard they were about to do a transition into Thread products instead of zigbee, might be the start of that?

Likely CES 2026 announcements, hopefully make it to our IKEA stores by mid-2026 (?)

IKEA's dirigera matter hub received its Matter 1.4 update back in July 2025
It can now assume the role of the thread border router. IKEA hide this in the workshop section in their app.
It is currently the cheapest thread border router with Matter 1.4. (Ethernet connection, USB-C 5V 2A power)

Looking forward to IKEA's full tilt into Matter-over-Thread next year : )

    • Also could mean "end of line product". A similar thing happen to a particular IVAR shelving product. It was on sale half price, then 6 months later it wasn't available.

  • Is this compatible with Amazon Alexa?

  • Its showing full price for me, where can I get the discount

    • Same for me. (Perth)

    • In-store only

    FYI,
zigbee gear is crazy cheap on Aliexpress these days. Especially on "bundle deals" even with ~20% "tax" added. Look for "works wioth Zigbee2MQTT".
Buttons, PIR, door/window sensors under $5. mm radar sensors slightly more.

    • I'm still pretty new to HA, zigbee etc. From what I've read, some of the cheaper devices that can do zigbee, like Tuya, spam the network. But I'm on the hunt for cheap (enough) devices that perform well. I was considering paying a tad more for ThirdReality devices, or looking into ESP32 and making my own. What's your experience been like, @bargaino ?

If you want to get into Zigbee with HA, I cannot recommend highly enough, HA/Nabu Casa's USB (used to be called SkyConnect, now its called some other thing.)

I dont even really use their cloud service (I use a home server with a Zero Trust tunnel) but I pay the yearly subscription to support them.

My Zigbee stuff is absolutely rock solid with SkyConnect - including a bunch of Ikea Zigbee stuff, and AliExpress Zigbee stuff.

        • Thanks Yakkus, sorry I should have mentioned I already have an SMLIGHT SLZB-06 usb/ethernet Z2M bridge, which is happily talking to all my Ikea devices.

About to buy an ESP8266 controller to experiment with LED strips.

@thisisscotts: I think it's even better, SMLIGHT SLZB-06 + Z2M is IMHO the best combination you can have for zigbee.

Not new in IT but fairly new to esp32 and HA. With esphome in HA it makes it bit easier. Gemini is really bad to create custom devices. Usually it gives wrong codes and takes you in circles. Biggest drama so far have been the 2450 presence sensors to get working. Perfect for monitoring doors, lights and such. Also bt proxy to connect my victron gear so I can view remotely. Got a whole box of sensors i am gonna get into eventually. Wish i never started with esp haha.

    • I've been using these cheap buttons, sensors and bulbs for years now and they absolutely do work.

But it has to be said that these Ikea products are a step up in terms of quality and are not prohibitively expensive.

      • The bulbs are great, but I've had mixed experience in the past with the switches and sensors in HA. e.g. The IR sensors sometimes run button cells flat - some sort of software bug.
Its great to see lots of Chinese products now labelled as working with Zigbee2MQTT.

  • I have the original "strybar" that uses button batteries from 2019 and it still works perfectly fine in my z2m HA setup. I have another ikea rocker switch I use outdoors exposed to the elements but under cover and that is going strong.

But at the same time I've found newer Ikea zigbee products hit and miss with pairing.

When it pairs, it lasts for ages.
