I said I didn't want the doorbell and got an extra $50 GC credit. YMMV.

    • Why not $149 voucher? Given that’s the value of the doorbell…

      • +2

I tried, but he said it's not something they normally do. Probably could've sold the doorbell for $100 but too much effort.

        • +2

You did the right thing, you wont be able to sell it for $100 for sure.

  • -2

90 on market place should be an easy sell

    • +3

Realistically more like $70-$80, check marketplace lots of people are selling this and they advertised it for $100(their ads has been sitting for weeks)

    • Just return it to another JB Hi Fi

      • You don't get a tax invoice for something you didn't pay for.

        • Just ask for a receipt, in my experience they pay for the doorbell with a gift card and you can ask for the doorbell receipt then just return it somewhere else

          • @boomlogical: Because people like you that why Telstra and JB increase early termination fee to $1000. Keep doing this dodgy thing and you will never get anything nice again.

            • @Dumpshid: But if people like you (who are allegedly not returning it) are buying it, the deal is still the same, so it should not make a difference to you.

              • @sn809: Why do you think the early termination fee has increased to $1000? Because some people keep doing dodgy stuff so the company has to cover the loss and close loop hole by increasing the fee. I wish all retailers are talking to each other so they can set the price very high just like pharmaceutical companies in the US. Then people will realise how fuk up they are

                • +2

@Dumpshid: Not really correct. They increase because people usually sign up and cancel straight away.

  • +3

is it true the cancelling the plan loophole isn't near as good anymore?

    • Yes, because the repayment for the GC has been increased from $800 to $1000. Not worth taking a hit on your credit score if you don't intend to stick around. For me, it made sense because I'm always using data on my phone (no reason for WiFi with this much data) and full access to Telstra network with uncapped speeds. $99/m really isn't that much money in the grand scheme of things.

    I think it’s 1000 for ETC now

Ring doorbell must be not selling well so JB makes this funny bundle !

    • +2

Ring products are a trojan horse to get you into the Amazon ecosystem and paying monthly subcriptions. They're sold for little more than cost.

Whats the rule on duplicate posts?

    • Where's the duplicate? The other user that posted this was L plater so it was removed

      • Could be that one. Been seeing a fair few JB mobile posts lately and more the less the same.

  • Remember to get JB to price match the price of your iPhone with Costco

  • Does the doorbell come with a receipt for $150? Could you return or exchange it?

    • No, I just asked my local.

    • Because people like you that why Telstra and JB increase early termination fee to $1000. Keep doing this dodgy thing and you will never get anything nice again.

      • For real. The lady on the phone couldn't believe I was asking that question. Not even I know why I asked that question⁉️

    • they sent me a receipt which says paid with online gift card

      • Yeah cool. They’d have to as it’s still a transaction. Also, what if it breaks and you need a warranty claim?

  • +1

From previous years the best deal will be around black friday. Last year I believe it was a $1200 gift card and $89 /month for the plan

    • +1

Yeah that’s what I go on my iPhone 15, also Black Friday had 25% off for jb HI-FI extended warranty which included apple care

  • +2

    I got 2 gift cards $1200 $149.
Way better value than that bloody doorbell.

    • Are you serious? What store was this?

      • +1

  • can we still port out from telstra to an aldi sim these days? havent done this in a while

  • so I did get the refund from 1200 gift card all to my credit card despite only paying $729 from there and the rest on gift cards.
Next question - I havent even put the sim card in a phone yet - do I have to cancel with Telstra or can I do through JB Hifi site? I cant log into Telstra without setting the Sim up
