    The cheapest I can find it elsewhere is ~$130 for this model. I think it might be more pricey because it's 1/8 scale (i.e., relatively large), but I don't know much about RC cars.

      Looking at alibaba for this model you gotta buy minimum order of 30 - and it's already 48 USD before delivery; so i can see why it's priced this way.
      the el-cheapo $30 ones that I found are much slower, smaller battery, full plastic etc; this one seems to have part metal chasis/body.

      Not sure if it's a discount since I bought a massive 4x4 RC car off Big W during that big toy sale that is quite solid like this for like $69
