Good Value Lobster Dinner in Brisbane

I've never had lobster (in its original form).

Looking for a sit-down restaurant in Brisbane CBD or the Valley to get one, maybe that you can split with another person.

Wanna get a fairly traditional style, ie, red, soaked in butter, don't necessarily want the cheapest going, certainly don't wanna get sad cheap nasty lobster, just don't wanna spend more than I have to.

Going with friend from work and we live on opposite sides of town so would consider going out to the inner suburbs but not much further.

TY brain trust 😋

Just get a large prawn and butterfly it. Close your eyes and open your mouth.

        • Love it…..LMAO

  • Haven't been to this place in West Village, can't vouch for it but they do serve 'live' lobster.

    • Can i go there and just order the Fried Egg for $5 ?

Of course! For our valued lacto ovo vegetarian guests we substitute finest Tassie duck tallow with first press extra virgin olive oil. Will that be Sunny Side Up, Over Easy, Over Medium, Over Hard, Greasy Spoon, Thai Deep Fried, Nuttelex 'Poached', Flipped & Pressed or Charred Yolk? Sadly Cloud Egg is not available this evening.

    • If I order a half a 'live' lobster, what's going to happen to the other half ???

        It will sue you.

        • That's absurd. It won't be able to get to a lawyer before it dies…

Doubtful that it's a member of a union either, though Worker's Comp may apply?

          • @Muppet Detector: It comes under OH&S laws…

              It comes under OH&S laws…

Makes sense that Other Half would come under Other Half & Shelfish laws.

@Muppet Detector: They are also members of the CFMEU (Crustacean, Fish, Molluscs, and Echinozoa Union)

                • @jv: What do lobsters use to pay their union fees, Rocks?

      • "Front of House actual to service team: urgent upsell on large plate HLL"

      • Other half used for another guest who orders Lobster Bisque, Lobster Sashimi, dead 1/2 Lobster Mornay or it runs away to join the B52's.

Even if you rip the lobster's head completely off/detach it from its body, it still lives for at least 4 - 5 minutes afterwards, so might be same for a half lobster too?

Worked in a sashimi restaurant where we had 3 minutes to prepare live lobster sashimi (ie after live lobster caught, beheaded, unshelled, cleaned, sliced, & plated ready for waiter to serve to table, flesh still pulsing when it was served to customer - so maybe another 2 - 3 minutes after initial beheading) and slices off one side of a live fish and rest of the fish kept swimming around until next person ordered that species.

        • What is the chances of two guest after a half a live each same time.

        • That's ghastly. Poor zombie lobster.

  • An alternative is to go to a Chinese restaurant and ask for their specialty lobster - e.g. ginger and shallot.

If you can't find any lobster, try Singapore chilli crab.

Years ago when I was traveling interstate we used to get an indicative meal allowance. While the hotels were 4-5 stars, it got boring dining at the same place cycling through the different dishes. So I wandered the city, say to a Chinese restaurant, and ordered a whole fish or small lobster. I told them to put down something like "dinner" for the receipt for my corporate Amex, rather than the specifics.

      try Singapore chilli crab.

OMG did you ever get to try the sand crab lasagne from Il Centro? drool

  • Was going to suggest George's Paragon, but looks like they must have closed their Brisbane Restaurant…

    • They did when the building they were closed. Very sad.

  • I don't want to ruin anyone's dinner but … someone once referred to lobster as the cockroaches of the ocean.

    Thanks, I'll pass.

  • Lobster is always market price.. and ONLY should be eaten at high end restaurants.

  • This thread pretty much convinced me to stick to crabs lol.

  • I haven't been to this place, but I have been to similar at Mooloolaba. This is moored near the Botanical Gardens in Brisbane.
