Listen, as an 80-100 hour player, I did what you did initially, then my 2nd playthrough some years later kept going, and was really glad I did. You won't know until you do, but looks can be deceiving.
For someone who hasn't been able to get into turn-based style RPG's (although I did like the more tactical style combat of Fire Emblem Awakening) - would you say that this is a good entry point?
This might not be as tactical as FE franchise if I remember correctly (although I still enjoy it). You can try Octopath traveler games maybe? Advance war is also turn base but not much of a RPG.
This is the best entry point for the most pure and traditional turned based RPG. It's really the series than defined the genre and DQ11 has nice graphics and even some side activities that let you experience the older games. 10/10 and ridiculous value at $28 considering how much content there is.

Where is the demo ?
Love the game, but would recommend the Steam version nowadays, I have both and beat both. On PC you can mod in some really nice HDR, unlock other bits like cosmetics, and I think I've seen it for around this price or a bit cheaper, $23.

I've been a huge fan since the first release on the NES. Super fun games and great to play on the switch
Fantastic game. Spent 60 hours finishing Acts I and II and was satisfied with ending it there. Without spoiling it, Act III comprises half the game but as a person who is not a completionist, I considered it as optional and thought it devalued my experience of Act II greatly - especially the ending of Act II. But at $27.47, you can't really go wrong. A classic JRPG experience with a classic story, great for those who are wanting to start out their journey into the JRPG genre. It runs fantastically on Switch 2, as that is the platform I played it on.
