12 Months Amazon Prime Membership for 40,000 Telstra Plus Points @ Telstra Plus Rewards Store

980

If you have excess points to burn this is likely a good use of them. I was looking to redeem Telstra points for Amazon Prime membership a few months ago but found Telstra removed the option from their Rewards Store. Looks like it is now back. These are the options:

3 months - 15,000 points
6 months - 30,000 points
12 months - 40,000 points (best value if you have enough points)

I believe points expire 3 years after being earnt? So if you have points just sitting there take this as your reminder to use them.

T&Cs:

I spent all my Telstra points on PC Game Pass! It's fine though Amazon Prime is probably the only subscription I am happy to pay full price for considering how much I purchase from Amazon on a weekly basis. I probably save +$500 a year on free next day shipping.

This is good use of points for people who don't care about game pass.

    • +2

Funny you get downvote just bc you choose Gamepass. The Amz Prime lovers are anti gamers or sth 😂

      • +1

This is something personal, as some ozbrs are keen to downvote on the base of personal hate.

    • +1

Most of my Telstra rewards points go towards Xbox or PS5 controllers. Never considered Game Pass codes lol.

    • great deal, with telstras classic f$%k ups included for every customer.

When do the Amazon prime vouchers expire?

    Edit: 27/10/2028

    • U can buy multiple and amazon will stack them on. I bought 2 years and i got amazon prime expiration in 2 years from when i added it.

  • +6

You'd hope you'd be getting you worth of points with how expensive Telstra is

    • -5

Same prices as everywhere else , what other telco gives you points ?

  • +2

I could not redeem it despite having enough points. Seems to be targeted?

    • When you tried, what message did you receive?

      • I get

        No Offers Available

There were no offers associated with your Telstra ID.

Please make sure you have an eligible service linked to your Telstra ID via Telstra 24x7 MyAccount under account settings.

Once you have added a service to your Telstra ID, please login again.

        • Please make sure you have an eligible service linked to your Telstra ID

          do you?

  • It says I don't have an active service with Telstra to redeem the offer, what is the cheapest service to avail this offer?

    • +1

Prepaid 6 months casual plan , normally $39 but on sale at Coles for $13

      • +1

We need to have enough point to redeem as well, isn’t it? I have used prepaid two times and have only 780 points.

        • +2

You get 10 points per dollar spent, so you would need to spend $4,000 on your Telstra account to get 40,000 points.

          • @jmc787: It's also been a while since Telstra gave out some free points

            • +1

@Mokr: Maybe wait until Black Friday/Cyber Monday and see what offers Telstra have

            • @Mokr: i received 20k bonus on 25th August

      • Great, thanks. Will buy that.

  • o dang, only have 27k points.

Some random calculations from ChatGPT too

$100 Amazon gift voucher for 61 500 pts
$100 Woolworths gift card for 63 800 pts
The 40 000 points for 12 months of Amazon Prime

The Amazon gift voucher option: ~ 615 pts / $1
The Woolworths gift card option: ~ 638 pts / $1
    The Prime-membership option: ~ 506 pts / $1

Lower points required per dollar means better value (you spend fewer points to get each dollar) — so by that metric, the Prime offer (506 pts per $1) is better value than the voucher offers (615-638 pts per $1).

  • I had 16000 pts but opted for Cygnett ChargeBase 15W Wireless Phone Charger for 12000pts. I don't use Telstra anymore so this was a nice pick-up. Thanks for the prompt OP.

PS - the rrp on the charger is $50 and so it represent 240 pts / $1 :)

  • $1 = approx 334 points. By that calculation it’s about $120 worth.

  • got only 38K points.
    will miss this one out.

waiting hopefully for a better one for black friday

If you still use Telstra services, you can essentially pre-pay $200 towards your future bills and they will pop up as 2k points in your Telstra plus account in a few days.

  • Anyone know to gift it to someone else?

Seems when redeeming on the Telstra website after purchasing it takes you straight to Amazon page to redeem automatically (but I don't want to use it now). Not sure if it sends an email too, don't think I have a mailbox attached to that Telstra account.

Can you just get the code in the URL and redeem that on Amazon?

    • Not sure if it's the same as when they used to have it. But when i had purchased it using my points, I check my email for the Telstra Plus Reward Receipt confirmation email.

      It should contain:
Your Voucher code: XXX XX XXX XXX XXXXXXXXXX
      Serial Number: XXXXXXX
Your Voucher expires on: XX XX XXXXX

You can just apply the voucher code in Amazon. You can give/gift that code to anyone and they can stack it if they want.

That's how it was a couple years ago.

This used to be 32,000 points at the Telstra store. My dad redeemed it last year as Telstra was removing Amazon Prime from the store so December 31st 2024 was the last time to redeem it. So they have brought it back but raised it 8000 points for the full 12 month membership.

    • I think they removed it initially after amazon increased membership prices, higher points might be reflective of that. But 32k points for a year was great value.

    • I thought I was losing my marbles as I vaguely remember TP removing Amazon Prime. Stacked two years worth of Amazon Prime and will now have to pay come December.

  • It doesn't seem to work for me, do you need to have an active service to redeem points

      • so having sufficient points is not enough to redeem, you must have an active service with Telstra?

  • So… on redemption it directs you to login to your existing prime account.

After redemption, it looks like it’s overwritten my existing membership (which I paid yearly for) with a partner billed plan for 6 Nov today and ending 6 Nov 2026.

So what happened to my existing plan? I dunno, didn’t get the money or the months back either.

    • It was mentioned in bold in the OP

If you are an existing Prime member, your selected Prime membership period (3, 6, or 12 months) from Telstra Plus will be added to your Amazon.com.au account. Your existing Prime membership will be temporarily paused when the new period activates and will automatically resume once your selected period ends.

      • It currently says, I will be charged $9.99 after 6 Nov 2026.

        So… not sure lol.

BEWARE: i used my TP points to buy this same Prime membership a years ago. When I went to redeem through Prime, they rejected it saying Telstra had pulled this promotion. I went to Telstra and got their usual incompetent customer service reps. It took a lot of back and forth for them to say the voucher I had was no longer valid, but that they recognised I had used points to purchase the now useless voucher.

I was able to eventually use the points on something else - but for a while there, TP basically accused me of already fulfiling the Prime voucher when I couldn't.

So I would never use the TP on anything other than a gift card or physical object.

    • same - but i received refund of the value of 12mths Prime, since that’s what the voucher was to give (also points are non-refundable)

    • This just happened to me!!

I clicked redeem but when it went to the amazon page it gave me an error

      "Activation failed

This account is not eligible for this offer."

But i still got 40k taken out from my account, can you please let me know did you get your points back?

  • I only have 38,557 points… What to do?

    • See comments above - prepay your future Telstra bills to make up the points. Or you could just keep paying Telstra bills till the points reach 40K.

I think it was 27K points a few years ago for Amazon Prime but it was priced at $49 back then.

      • Thanks. Will do that but I’ll wait for Black Friday first to see any special offer.

  • +1

    39,977 points. D'oh

  • Any bargaining? I'm considering pausing my membership until they bring some real bargains back. BF is coming.

  • i get this, howcome?

    Activation failed

This account is not eligible for this offer.
