Bugger. I paid for a year up front last month

  • +1

Better off with Newshosting. Cheaper and stackable.

    • +2

I jumped on their current deal for ~$25usd ($40aud), purchased twice - stacked, so I'm all good through to 05/05/2028 now (for $80aud):
      https://www.reddit.com/r/usenet/comments/1oixpnh/newshosting…

(Edit: the rep on Reddit is quite helpful, I DMed him and he turned off auto-renew so I dont have to worry about getting stung with a big bill if I forget to cancel it in 2028)

      • +1

Perfect. Didn't know it was on again. Already got to 2029 from last year's deal. Great service. (Just added another one. valid to nov 2031 now).

          • +1

@FLICKIT: Nice. I would for sure forget otherwise. Put reminder in calendar but better to cancel.Bet getting a reminder or knowing it just stopped working.
So good with especially PLEX and watchlistarr. Put on wishlist and just downloads it. My main use for it.

            • @Mikael: @FLICKIT What indexer are you using? I got NZBGeek.

              • +1

@Mikael: I've been using NZBFinder and abNZB but they've both expired so I'm down to 3 & 10 grabs per day with them… I spent hours today checking a lot of them out and NZBGeek ($12usd) is where I think I'm going to go, I like the way they categorize series and you can select series, episode, and resolution to narrow down what you're looking for, and not have to scroll dozens of results… Also a lot of episodes that were missing on abNZB were on NZBGeek, so that seemed positive (I was going through filling gaps in series I've saved)… NZBGeek payment seems to be through a .com.au site which I'm more comfortable with, I really dont like putting CC details into random Euro sites…

My bro-in-law loves NZBGrabit (18quid) but the crude forum style layout seems a bit hard to deal with, I find it hard on the eyes… (I do like how you can search for just x265 eps and such with them though)

                • @FLICKIT: @FLICKIT & @Mikael, just want to ask for you both is NBZGeek and NBZGrabit it the same as the News hosting or would I need that in addition to Newshosting?

As mentioned I'm new to it and love Newshosting service that I've purchased a few year but from Flickits comment as my preference a bit is also series are categorised, episode and resolution. My preference like most is x265 eps and and not have to keep scrolling.

I would also prefer to lifetime if the services provide it. Sorry I know I can get google, but thought it's easier to ask the experts here, as I'm hoping I've communicated what I intend to use it for.

                  • +1

@Tekuza: Newshosting is a server/provider, Geek & Grabit are indexers to get NZB's… Where are you getting your NZB's at the moment?

You can sign up for a trial account with NZBGeek and check it out… NZBfinder and abNZB still have free accounts I think but they only allow a couple of downloads per day, the initial trial may be more, I cant remember…

It seems Geek usually run a Black-Friday deal, like this one last year, this is what I'm waiting for: https://www.reddit.com/r/usenet/comments/1gyfog1/nzbgeek_bla…

                    • +1

@FLICKIT: @FLICKIT Just renewed my indexer for a year. If you think about it can you tag me if you see NZBGeek plans for on sale? I do same if I see them.

                      • @Mikael: NzbGeek Sale Start 12:00am 28th Nov UTC - 12:00am 1st Dec UTC

Perfect. If known I wouldn't have extended a year. 4th this month. Oh well. Going with lifetime. Thank you.

                        • +1

                          @FLICKIT: @FLICKIT just went with lifetime. $60us

                          • @Mikael: I only went 5-years, $30usd = $47.70aud with Paypal, I figure the odds are things could well change in the next 5-years so I wasn't sure it was worth going lifetime.. (I'll probably end up wishing I did, lol)….

                            • +1

@FLICKIT: Haha, I was the same. Usually if lifetime there, something will change. But anything can. And for $30 us more I could do the risk.

                    • +1

@FLICKIT: Thanks for clarifying @FLICKIT, Dot have one at the moment, just purely using News hosting, so will do some trails.

I'll research how to use the indexers but appreciate the heads up for Black Friday too 😍

            • @Mikael: How are you using it with PLEX? Any links or guides if you're using it for streaming?

Or are you referring to just downloading and adding to your PLEX library

              • +2

                @Tekuza: @Tekuza
Using *arr docker's. One is watchlistarr. If you go into Plex and choose discover. Search for a movie and add it into your watchlist. It will trigger a download if it is available. Can add series too. Only thing it downloads all episodes available. On web interface I can choose upcoming episodes, this season and so on. Also can choose quality and so on. I don't do screeners.

Was a bit of fiddling around to get it setup initially. Few API codes needed. Don't have any guides as was jumping from one to another.

      • Thanks, btw just bought and very impressed with the speed and usenet service, can anyone tell me how to Stack please as want to buy a few years, but can't see any option on my dashboard to purchase another.

        • +1

          -Log out of NewsHosting
          -Click the deal link: https://controlpanel.newshosting.com/signup/index.php?promo=…
-Enter your email address, a message will come up under the email address saying This email is already in use. Please login to get this deal. … Click that, log in, and checkout…

Also: It seems the only way you can check your subscription end-date is by looking at the invoices down the bottom of the 'Update Payment Page' ;)

          • +1

@FLICKIT: Thanks heaps for that info, yes strange need to look at the invoices haha but great can see it does stack that way in the invoices.

      • are you using any other backbone now or just these 3 you get with newshosting?

    • +1

Newshosting follows the DMCA policy, but Eweka uses the Notice-and-Takedown policy which is often gives higher completion rates due to slower removal of files

      • +2

With Newshosting you get an Easynews and a Tweaknews account, Tweaknews seems to be NTD…
        https://whatsmyuse.net/

Edit: I just set up the free Easynews and Tweaknews accounts through Newshosting, all good, they work fine…

  • +1

Does this stack with an existing membership?

    • +2

      Yes it does

    • +2

It should. I stacked a 15 month deal on a existing sub over a year ago without any problems. Beaten to the comment

      • +2

Confirm - I just stacked this deal on top of my active plan, which was set to renew in Jan 2026, now I'm covered out to April 2027

  • +9

well why not link to the Reddit thread for all the deals?

    https://www.reddit.com/r/usenet/s/xQGxbk4sE7

  • +3

    xdcc send

    • +2

still get my books that way.

      • what's the idlers server of choice these days?

        • +3

          irchighway.net
          or
          dallas.tx.us.undernet.org

  • Free Easynews… is that just 12 months?

    • +2

No it follows the same expiration date as your plan

When the rep was asked on the Reddit thread about it:

All addons included in our deal will remain active until your current Newshosting plan ends, and they’ll automatically end when that plan expires.

He also confirmed you can stack this deal an unlimited number of times.

      • stack the deal an unlimted number of times …. is this to say the deal may still be there after black Friday or that it will simply be there come next black Friday to stack ?

  • How do I check account expiry date for Newshosting.

    • +2

It seems the only way you can check your subscription end-date is by looking at the invoices down the bottom of the 'Update Payment Page'

      • I purchased a second sub yesterday and have 2 invoices under my account tab. The second invoice has a start date from yesterday expiring 02/14/2027. Do I need to to contact support, or will it automatically stack?

        • erm, it doesn't seem they've stacked, 2 should put you through to May 2028…

The rep on Reddit is very responsive, it seems he's better than the support through the website, maybe DM him:
          https://www.reddit.com/r/usenet/comments/1oixpnh/newshosting…

        • +1

          My 2 invoices say

          11/12/2025 to 02/12/2027 - Unlimited
          and
          02/12/2027 to 05/12/2028 - Unlimited

Keep in mind the dates are American MM/DD

Newshosting reddit Rep has sorted things out.

  • Getting good speeds 60 GB /s tweaknews / Easynews on Superloop plan.

    • +1

60 GB/s?! You hiding out in the data center?

      • +1

Oops. I mean 60 MB/s. Must of had a dream that I lived in Tokyo, Seoul or Singapore.
Tweaknews seems to support 60 concurrent connections on my system, not just 50.

        • The address for newsgroupdirect is

          news.newshosting.com

          Ports:
          563 (SSL Secured)
          119 (Standard)

Use that as your primary server and tweaknews as backup

          • @Agret: Yep, I have set up Newshosting as primary on SAB with 100 connections, and Tweaknews and Easynews as 2nd and 3rd priority. I am impressed that I am getting good speeds from Tweaknews and Easynews since they are essentially free ad-ons.
I have 6 months left on my Eweka sub, so have set that to 4th priority and will see if it catches anything.

  • Got an email from Easynews offering me their Black Friday Deal. $1.65/mo = USD24.75 for 15 mos. I believe this is their lowest offer ever.

Grabbed it with both hands and feet. :D

    • +1

The newshosting deal includes easynews & tweaknews and is $25 for 15 months. Not sure why you would go direct to easynews when you could get 2 extra servers for the same price?

      https://controlpanel.newshosting.com/signup/index.php?promo=…

    • Is there a code or link in the email that you could PM ? I don't think they've sent me the email 😥
