Great deal on a QHD, QD-OLED from Dell.

Dell says: Experience spectacular QD-OLED visuals and gaming performance on the new 27 inch flat panel monitor with a fast 280Hz refresh rate and a sleek new design.

EDIT: Monitors Unboxed described it as an Excellent Bang for Buck QD-OLED Monitor when they reviewed it 3 months ago @ US$500 (approx AU$850). OLEDs have dropped in price since then and this Dell is the lowest price I've found. If you're interested this monitor, watching the whole review is likely worthwhile.

    $594.66 with student discount.

    • Sorry if its a stupid question, how exactly do you redeem your student discount?

      • need to be a student, like tafe or uni, they ask for a document to prove it.

    • Thanks, updated.

Qd OLED becoming really accessible nowadays huh

    • It's been over two years now, but it has been quite quick in terms of how the prices have dropped and different models have come out. Wonder if anyone can confirm what generation panel this one has?

  • great price. Hopefully, your unit doesn't have the black screen glitch. It's a worthy gamble at this price.

  • This or the 360hz one?

Do you need to run any games at 360fps?

      • +3

Or even - can you? Because a 360 Hz OLED running at <=280 FPS with VRR enabled is going to give the same experience as this 280 Hz OLED.

    no audio output as well

Monitor speakers aren't usually worth using anyway….

  • Am aiming for a 4th gen WOLED panel during black friday. But this is looking tempting.

  • Need the 4k version 240hz oled plz

Edit: AW2725Q 4k 240hz is on special at $949 used student discount ended up paying $800

  • would this be any good for watching movies from a Chromecast? (completely legally ;) )

    • What movies are you watching at 280fps?

      • I will use it for gaming as well

      • LOTR extended at 11.6x speed - only a bit over an hour!

  • I purchased the 4K version AW2725Q at 15% discount.
    Overall, it’s a good monitor.
However, I was a bit disappointed that it doesn’t include built-in speakers.
The USB-C port is available, but it only supports charging, not video output.
When using my existing HDMI cable, the screen occasionally goes blank for about a second at regular intervals.
I had to use the included HDMI cable to resolve this issue.

How good can monitor speakers be? If sound is important to you, get standalone speakers or get some nice earphones. it's almost certainly going to be better than any tinny speakers that come with monitors.

it's your cable problem not the screen, it always like that with low grade cable.

  • I'm surprised this deal doesn't have more upvotes. Am I missing anything?

curretly in conomy recession and this is optional luxury.

    • it's a good deal if you want an Oled. I guess most people would be fine with a decent IPS for a quarter of the price.

    • Possibly because it's a gaming monitor only. And watching movies.

For productivity, the burn-in risk is real unless you go to lengths beyond the monitor's own burn-in protection. The ghost of your Windows task bar will gradually get worse.

Depending what apps you use, if they contain static interface elements you are playing with fire. If I could start over again, I would have a special preset for desktop use with very low brightness. White is the enemy of OLED, particularly buttons, icons or static white text such as in the Windows taskbar when your theme is dark.

  • I bought it last time and its really good, if anyones got any questions happy to answer.
I ordered a few days after the deal came on and it took 3 weeks to get it. People who ordered on day 1 got it the week after.

    • Do you know about 32inch vs 27inch? I have been using 32inch for a year or so now, just wondering if it's a lot smaller or not even noticeable after a while?
