my last dji drone didn't make it back to land - about 300m short ditched bass strait.
would fly more have got me a new one - my own stupidity i know.
just curious is it that generous?

Nah, fly more is just more batteries. You're thinking of DJI care refresh, in case they would've replaced the drone for a fee.

    • +1

most likely yes. for lost ones ive heard it takes a little longer but generally you are still covered
edit: im referring to DJI care which I assume you are asking about?

      • +1

thanks guys. now i know… DJI CARE and ROARING FORTIES is real haha.

    • i paid this much for the fly more kit last week :D from digidirect.

    • alway set you return to home to max so it doesnt' crash into things on the way back.

      • yeh watch out for all those obstacles in bass strait

  • Careful with flymore combos, the batteries will put the drone above the 250g limit of most countries where you will then require a licence.

Regardless of battery - More importantly: CASA has officially confirmed that the Mini 5 Pro is not classified as a micro (≤250 g) RPA under Australian rules: it is treated as a “small restricted RPA”.

      • the fly more combo plus is what you refering too wiht the bigger batteries, the normal fly more kit doens't have the bigger batteries.

      • yep I am sure casa will care when i fly this in international waters.

          WTH are you on about.

          • @Andoes: meaning if your not in Australia it won;'t matter what casa says. lol

        Beware of what? A long-arse AI-written article?

Zero change for recreational drone operators. No registration required, regardless of above or below 250 grams.

  • Mini expensive

    • I had one before I returned it due to it weighing 253gms.

It was a seriously impressive drone. I really hated that I had to return it. Worth every cent.

      • So did you swap it for a Mini 4 pro??

        • Nah. I am waiting to see if later batches fix the issue. I also have the rc pro 2 for my 3 Cine so would probs go the mini 3 pro instead.

    • the first mini fly more kit back in the day was only 800 bucks now the new minis cost 1500 :D on sale!!

CASA has officially confirmed that the Mini 5 Pro is not classified as a micro (≤250 g) RPA under Australian rules: it is treated as a “small restricted RPA”.

So, even if you believe your unit weighs under 250 g, under the current Australian classification for regulatory purposes the Mini 5 Pro is not treated as “micro” (<250 g) according to CASA’s position.

For this drone, regardless of whether you're using the standard or extended Fly More battery, these rules apply:

If you’re flying purely for recreation (not for hire, commercial work) then:

You do not need to register your drone or hold accreditation (purely recreational) even if it weighs more than 250 g.

You must comply with the general drone safety rules: e.g., keep below 120 m above ground, keep your drone in line‑of‑sight, maintain safe distance from people, etc.
Civil Aviation Safety Authority. But you won’t get the extra flexibility that comes with the “250 g or less” (micro) category such as being able to fly within 5.5 km of a controlled airport (unless you meet those conditions for the >250 g category).

If you’ll be using your drone commercially (for work / paid service) then:

Since the Mini 5 Pro is treated as >250 g / not micro, it falls into the “very small” or higher category and you will need to register it with CASA, obtain the free operator accreditation, and follow the relevant standard operating conditions.

remember rules only apply if someone reports you. Most people will be flying these drones in areas where there is no people at that point, no one will care. Just dont' be stupid with it and fly in a known flight path. or restricted area.

    • you won’t get the extra flexibility that comes with the “250 g or less” (micro) category

What flexibility? The only one is flying within 5km of airports, which won't apply to the vast majority of drone operators who won't be flying anywhere near an airport.

It's bizarre how every time there's a drone bargain, mobs of "CASA alarmists" swarm to tell us about some irrelevant 250 gram weight detail that impacts nobody. 250 grams vs 255 grams, nobody gives a damn as long as you fly sensibly. There aren't police units looking for "5 gram overweight crimes" in the sky.

  • Does anyone know if JB will price match Amazon Business? I've got a few discounted GCs lying around waiting to be used.

  • Yall think its worth selling my dji mini 4 pro getting this?
