Seems a decent deal for a well regarded pair of headphones.
Both 32 ohm and 350 ohm are this price.
Cheaper than AliExpress by a fair bit.

Sorry I'm not the guy to ask. I've only had senny 6xx and found the clamp so tight I got rid of them. Not much help :) I'm tempted to get these to replace a pair of 599 I use for gaming/some music.

You can straighten the headband to reduce the clamp on the 600 series

I tried it over some books at the time but decided not to proceed. Not sure they were for me anyway.

@drprox: They are a headphone that takes a bit of brain burn in. When i first heard them it felt like they were veiled. But give them a week and the sound shines through.

Sennheiser HD650
You need to take into account that some have listened to these for over 20 years. Some of us upgraded from them into higher-end headphones and left them behind on shelves or sold them. But there's a reason 20+ years later they are still being used, and it's not just for the durability, but their sound.
The entire HD600 line is great imo
They are perfect entry points to audiophile grade headphones. Buy them from Amazon AU when they drop on discount (HD650, HD600, HD660S, whichever one you can get the biggest discount on during Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales), you have 30 days to listen to them and judge for yourself and if you don't like them return them easily to Amazon. It's often overlooked, but the reason many recommend other headphones in these price categories is because we grew bored of the HD600 line (due to time), but it does not take away from their quality.

Very hard to beat the 650 - as long as you're not after a decent amount of bass.

350 ohm version is supposedly much better, but these are an older model and FiiO and others have been churning out headphones, not sure where it sits against all that in 2025.
I don't think it really beats the Edition XS or HD6XX at this price point unless you want to prioritise bass extension and will never EQ.
Can imagine such people would be looking at the Edition XV.

Probably also matters if you want to buy in Australia in which case the Edition XS as at today is $449 which isn't close on price.
I'm not an authority on build quality or QS but have read things about Hifiman and even then I've read plenty suggesting planars just don't commonly last as long so different strokes/folks. I'm sort've interested in the 350 ohm just because I've got nothing anywhere near that impedance.
Once sales kick in, you will see it around $349 on Amazon, and below $300 from AliE, who have a solid returns policy for out of the box issues (including free return shipping).

Not true at all in the grand scheme of things, but it is a more budget model in design intention than the FT3, as is the HD6XX really.

Thanks for all the advice, OzB-Brain Trust. One thing I do like about these is the lower 32-ohm impedance, as I can use them on my PC and mobile with a USB-C amp, or no amp at all, which is handy.
I had a pair of HDXX in the past, but found I never really used them that much as they never sounded that great without an amp (understandable), so I never reached for them that much.

@drprox These, or the Sennheiser HD 650 (still on sale on Sennheiser ebay for $372.67) - Headphones are as hard to buy as OLED monitors!) in terms of quality and sound for the price.
Thanks
