Frustration opening an ING Savings Maximiser to get $50 bonus

As title said, I tried opening the savings maximiser account then the orange everyday; called them several times but I dont know if there were glitches with the system of whatever my savings maximiser was not opened properly despite me receiving an email saying that it was indeed opened. Called them re the issue and spoke to a woman who was so unhelpful and told me that "there is nothing we can do" and as the $50 bonus was only available to new customers I am not going to get it now that my orange everyday is opened. Called again and was then assisted by a more reasonable rep who said might be able to help.

Anyone else had the same problem

  • if you did indeed completely comply with the t&c then i suggest you firstly make a formal complaint to ing direct and if that doesn't resolve the matter then you could lodge a complaint with the fos.

    Just canceled the account because it wasnt worth the $50…

  • I think when they sent the email to tell you that your account is "opened", it means it is sitting there waiting for your money to come in (to activate it). I was waiting to see a screen with my name and zero balance, after I activated it (24-1-2013). But they dont do that.

    Anyhow, immediately after I transferred money from my CBA accounts (25-1-2013), the screen pops up.
    No hassle for me.
    Now waiting for my $50 which they say will take about 2 weeks.

    • Just checked my statement. $50 Money came in on 7-2-2013!

  • It was a relatively straightforward process for me. I did have to go to Aus Post to verify my identity as their online system would not recognise my licence.

    It was worth all that hassle as i also won $2013 :)
