Although they don't want you replacing the battery yourself when it ages and eventually doesn't hold enough charge, but instead want you returning it to be serviced, which is a joke out of warranty considering how much the shaver costs; they simply want you buying a new one.
From page 7:
Remove the built-in rechargeable battery before disposing of the
shaver. Do not dismantle or replace the battery so that you can
use the shaver again. This could cause fire or an electric shock.
Replace it at an authorized service center.
That's exactly why I replaced my $240 shaver for a $60 one
I have this and it works a treat - I've coarse/rough hair and Japanese steel is much better for it than say something from Braun or other brands I've used.
It uses Li-on batteries - it says on it the page, yo!
Picked one of these Panasonic shavers from Amazon last time. Pretty happy with it, and glad my existing AU power cord for a different model fits it. The ultrasonic cleaning is much better than the stupid expensive cleaning pads / enclosure of my previous Panasonic shaver, IMHO.
