  • Stopover NOT allowed? I wonder if stopover would be extra for Singpore Airlines, MAS or Virgin Atlantic

If stopover is allowed then I would have flown with you, CX.

Don't really like your "new" slide-style economy seats anyway - quite uncomfy

    • Those fixed-shell economy seats are now their old product. They have been re-fitting their economy class with traditional reclining seats, so if you fly on the 777 HKG-LHR it will have the new seats.

Shame no stopover allowed, thats the best part of transiting via HKG.

    • Stopovers generally aren't allowed with any full service airline on their heavily discounted fares.

      • So bizarre you wouldn't think HK would want some extra $$$ injected into their tourism industry?!?

        • +1

ezza - I think Cathay would rather have some extra $$$ injected into their own bank accounts instead. :)

      • +1

I thought generally they allow it you just have to pay an extra charge (maybe $100 or so).

      • Not true. Often allowed but just an increase in taxes. Cx have a habit of their lowest class fares not including stopovers tho. They obviously think ppl will pay the extra $$$ for a stopover fare.

You can be in transit up to 24 hours so it's possible to get a day between flights and not count as a stopover. I did this coming back from London a couple of weeks ago.

HK transport is plenty good enough to make even 24 hours worthwhile.

      • Yes, even for half day. But not sure if they allowed you to go out (without further charges??)

  • Fantastic deal

  • wow this is a good deal, just after the tourist season.

  • Don't forget that Cathay are part of Oneworld, so miles can go to your Qantas Frequent Flyer.

    • No miles with this fare. Also can't pre-book seat choice.

      • Are you sure? I can't find anything that says no miles are awarded? You don't get Asia Miles (different ff program altogether) if you book Economy SuperSaver, but I don't see any issues besides that.

This is almost certainly a Q, S, G, or N class fare which doesn't earn any points or status credits on Qantas Frequent Flyer (or most other oneworld programmes). If it doesn't earn miles in Cathay Pacific's own programmes (Asia Miles or Marco Polo Club), it likely won't earn anything in most other programmes.

Note: "Points are not earned when travelling in classes other than those specified." QSGN fares are not listed in their earning table.

Seats can be selected in advance if you hold oneworld Sapphire or Emerald status (QFF Gold and above), however.

        • Thanks for the neg whoever did so. I was only trying to help. Care to explain why my comment deserved a neg? Do you believe it's factually incorrect?

        • +1

Try not to take it personally, could even have been someone on a small screen trying to +ve you and hitting the wrong button and not revoking it (or not knowing how). I've seen many normal, helpful comments get negged for no apparent reason. People are odd!

  • Great deal, got the email from cheapflights and it was nearly my first post on OzBargain. You guys are fast! Thanks :)

  • I tried a bunch of random dates, cheapest I found was $1900~???

  • Do they still use the fixed shell for economy seats?

  • Great deal indeed. Got 2 tickets about 2 hours ago. Looks like most seats are now gone

    • That's a really low comment. Take ur unapreciative rude attitude elsewhere and go pay $2000 for your flights. U deserve it!

    • +1

I think it's a fair question and he wasn't being harsh about it.
I wrote the same thing, I tried numerous dates and nothing came in under $1900~….
What dates did you get Unterberg?
