Johnny Walker on Sale at BWS (eg. Red Label 1L $46) + Further $10 off if You Spend $100 or More

40

Page 22 of this week's catalogue. I just picked up a 1L of Red and a 700ml of Double Black for a cool $91 all up. I had to show the guy at the counter the extra $10 off in the catalogue.

Prices are already pretty good for woolies, the extra $10 makes it golden!

Others include:

Black Label 700ml $45
Double Black 700ml $55
Gold Label 750ml $80
Platinum Label 750ml $120
Blue Label 700ml $180

I need to put price of 6 different items in the title?

      • Put the one item you think is best and the others in the body of the deal. It is hard to work out whether this is a good deal or not. E.g. how much was the double black and how big was the bottle?

i quite like the double black…

Dan Murphy have it cheaper though, even after the $10 Woolies discounts, so hardly a bargain…

But it is cheaper with Woolies if you spend over $100. So not a bad deal.

      • one or two will do… just pick best ones…

  • current dan murphy's prices
    1L red label - 43.80
    700ml double black 54.95

You can pick up Premium Unleaded for about $1.65L, which probably would taste better then red label :P

      Heheh.

Red label fills a strange and pointless market segment.

You couldn't/wouldn't/shouldn't drink it on its own, but if you're mixing with <ozbargain>home-made-soda-stream-cola</ozbargain>, you may as well get a real cheap nasty scotch that costs much less and tastes no worse. And yet, strangely, better than most petroleum products.

At least, that's what I do. I currently have 7 good whiskies in my cabinet… and a $28 bottle of crap for topping up cans of cola if I feel like swinging that way.

  • So the Platinum label is what the original Gold label used to be (minimum 18 year old blend) and the Gold label Reserve is a new minimum 15 year old blend. Is that correct?

    Bit confusing haha

and both are more expensive and less good than oban 14 y/o or glenlivet 15 y/o (insert many other single malts in as well)

chivas 18 y/o is on sale for 39.99 if you insist on a blend.

      • Ardbeg is my weapon of choice atm

        • i tried to suggest somewhat similar products - cant really compare gold/platinum to a isley single malt (albeit a great one that is much cheaper)

then again - I cant really compare them to oban/glenlivet either

just trying to make the pt that single malts are out there…

      • Apples and oranges here.
many single malts will not sit well with people, whilst the same malt will be someone else's 1st choice.
Johnny walkers are all blends, more crowd pleasing.

Loaded up on Black for 36, Double Black for 45 and Dimple 15 for 45 at Dan Murphys last year. Barely remained sober since.

  • Red labels are $45 each as of yesterday if you buy two then grab two 50 ml bottles which usually cost $6 each
    = $102
    -$10 discount
    =$92

presto you're basically paying $2 for the extra 100mls.
