Your phone. I did not think people purchased GPS units any more.

  • I know, but do not have a smart phone, I must be the only one who doesn't so I need a new 'cheap' in car gps

  • A GPS is $100 and a bottom of the range Android phone with Google Maps and Navigator is $100. Something to consider anyway.

yes that is a good point, only trouble is if son or husband or mother is driving, then they will need to have my phone, unless we all get a smart phone. thanks anyway

+1 for an android smart phone. check ozbargain for bargains. eg. lots of people got the LG Optimus Spirit for around $45 and the Telstra Huawei Ascend Y201 was recently available for less than $50. i think you can even download all the maps and run them without a sim card if you want (so you can't make phone calls, but you don't need an extra phone plan if you want to use it as a GPS only)

    • I use the LG Optimus Spirit also … I have Sygic mapping on mine.
Works perfectly. I dont even bother taking out my satnav any more.
The benefit of having it on a smartphone is that you have satnav with you no matter where you are… another car, walking, public transport, etc… As already stated, dedicated sat navs are obsolete.

  • just get a nexus 7

  • devilbabies, do these phones support "SpeedAlert"? Sorry, newbie, never had a GPS but have an old iPhone 3GS that claims to support "SpeedAlert" but doesn't work! :(

I'm after something cheap that will monitor my driving speed and (automatically) warn me if I am speeding.

    • The problem with these things is that they sometimes do not keep up with changes to speed limits.

Best advice… look at your speedo and drive sensibly. That does work.

  • $99
