Does anyone have any good or bad comments on the Asus TF300T Transformer or any other suggestions?

We are now thinking the Asus TF300T Transformer, with keyboard dock will be most suitable, mainly because it ticks the most boxes. At home we have an Acer all in one touchscreen (very happy) Toshiba laptop for work (very happy) Samsung Galaxy SII mobile (very happy). With all the above in mind we think the Asus will fit in between, as both a tablet to play, plus a mini computer whilst travelling, as we have to do minimal work every day (emails, banking, excel spreadsheets).

Does anyone have any good or bad comments on the Asus TF300T Transformer or any other suggestions?

I have the transformer plus keyboard dock and am very happy with it including battery life

I only have one small niggle and that is an issue watching video full screen with the keyboard plugged in. YouTube and AVIA seem to have problems, but then again I have not tried too many other apps, mainly as I stream. Support and acknowledgement of the issue is not the desired level I hoped.

Overall I would recommend it though.

Edit: I also have an S3.

  • Yes I agree with what's been said. I have the Transformer TF300 and the dock, and I've been using it now for about 7 months. No issues, it runs very smoothly on jellybean, and the best part of it is its flexibility. The built in programs for managing office documents are good and I think you'll find that the transformer will serve you well. I'm not too worried about the plastic body compared to the aluminium body of the tf200 or tf700 because it is still a solidly built unit. Also don't take too much notice of people complaining about keyboard flex in the tf300 because it is also present in the aluminium keyboards of the other models, just slightly less, and it doesn't affect typing in my opinion.

    Good luck!

  • THanks for your comments. Talking about streaming, we have never bothered paying for Foxtel etc as we dont believe we would get value but I love my golf and would like to stream live events. Do you know the best websites to use?

  • I've also had a TF300T for about 6 months or so and am very happy with it. Not really any complaints.

I don't know what the issue playing video in full screen with keyboard above is as I've had zero issues with this, but I use MX Player, so maybe it's just an app issue. I've watched a lot of movies on planes with the dock attached and it works great.

  • FYI, Asus are really good with updates as well. The TF300 will be getting 4.2 soon.

  • I just got one yesterday from DSE for $275! Yes, that was the 32GB with the dock.

I saw Friday afternoon someone post that DSE had them on clearance for $298 but the deal was removed for some reason. Probably low stock. Anyone I rang around and found a DSE close to me that had one left as display stock. 5% off for display stock, plus a little extra because the standard power cube was missing and they supplied a belkin one instead.

It's a great device. I bought one after recommending someone else buy one and helped set it up. Unfortunately his cost $420. I'm a very happy with $275.
