Samsung S3 - Broken Screen Needs Replacement - Please Suggest Best (cheap) Place For Replacement In Sydney

Samsung S3 - Broken Screen Needs Replacement: No Insurance :(

My local mobile repair shop has quoted $250 (for a original Samsung screen), which i find not affordable.

Please suggest on a cheaper place. I am hoping to spend around $100 - $120 for the fix (i could be day dreaming).
Happy to drive around 30 - 40 Kms for good price.

Any thoughts…..

cheers

  • Same thing in my experience, unfortunately. :(

Eventually I just coughed up the dough; on the bright side I know the phone is still covered under Samsung warranty. If you cheap out on phone repairs, they can use inferior parts that either break easily, void your phone warranty, or damage other parts of your phone. They can also just straight up break your phone; good luck pursuing them for reimbursement: nightmare.

Or you can save 100 bucks, and it works perfectly for the one extra year you will have that phone before upgrading anyway.

It's a conundrum that had me buggered for a while, but in the end I ponied up the dough. No regrets.

    • @Tunblor: Thanks mate..

  • Have you tried contacting Samsung and getting a quote from them?

Not the same thing but my missus dropped her Nexus 4 a week after she got it. It was a pain but after searching around the best price was a legit LG repair centre for ~160$ and the warranty is intact.

EDIT: let me know how you go, I have a SGS3 that I sent back once for warranty but I'd be interested to know about alternatives.

EDIT2: Have you looked at ebay for a new screen? You might find repair people there (dunno how dodgey) or you might be able to source the screen and ask your local repair shop to just charge labour.

    • Let me strongly recommend the "iPhone Screen Man" (he does Samsung's as well). He's a mobile repairman who will come to you, often in the same day but at least within 24-48 hours. Very reasonable rates. I had my iPhone 4 repaired on the same day I contacted him. Took about 10-15 minutes. His website is www.iscreenrepairs.com.au

      • @cesorg, Thanks mate..

      • How much does iPhone Screen Man charge, on average?

  • does anyone know much for iPhone 4 repair?
