  • Link shows $89 not $79?

  • Hi Op, website says $89.

    • Got it fixed. Thanks for letting us know

  • Would have purchased this but I ordered two 1W Oricom radio's from you on the weekend. Dammnit!

  • I picked these up from 1-day.com.au 2 years ago for $50.
I would've thought they'd be significantly cheaper now.

    • Are you sure it's the same ones? 3W transceivers are not usually this cheap

      • Guaranteed :) We only have a few a this price its a excellent deal.

        • I think you are confused who i was replying toRep

    • i searched there site and they only sold the 1/2 watt which you would have bought for that price. This is a 3 watt

      This is 6 times stronger.

  • Noted a few comments online about faulty switches on these units casuing them to become unusable.
    Any comments?

we have had only 1 problem which was a battery did not work and we replaced it immedeitly. there superb radios. Also, if you look at other models on the market and google the searches of other name brands, you would see that many of them will show details or problems that are more that what you have seen. The problems are very rare on the midlands.

  • Rep, can these devices be scaled. I am interested to get 4 pair (8 in total).

    • These will work on the standard UHF frequencies, so they'll work with any number of devices communicating on the same UHF channel. IE: channel 40 is the standard trucky's channel (I think). Set these to that, and you'll be heard by any trucky with their UHF turned on. Get 4 pairs of these, set them to the same channel, and you'll be able to chat without a problem.

  • thanks op, bought a pair, the 1w ones are unreliable during convoy…hope this is better.

  • I bought a pair of 0.5w Oricom recently which was advertised at BigW. I wanted something that can use normal batteries (AA preferably) and must have a minimum working range of at least 2.5kms as the crow flies in Melbourne CBD area and all under $100.

The maximum distance on the marketing blurb is in ideal condition i.e. clear line of site. For a more realistic distance, go 1/3 of the max advertised distance. In the case of the 0.5w Oricom with max 3Kms, I achieved an almost close 800m behind a building before the signal was unusable.

So I returned it and got a 2W Oricom. Signal was usable at the two locations I intend to use it from which is roughly about 1.6Kms and 2.5Kms away from the other handset; but not from the middle of the CBD as there are too many buildings.

So hopefully with this 3W, the distance should be even wider than 2W units and a bonus is it can accept AA size batteries. AA size has much higher capacity rating than AAA so should also last longer.

  • Any idea how well these would work on the mountain? Planning to take them snowboarding..

    • Hi silo. Becuase there 3w radios they would do good on mountains but please note that uhf radios are usually better on open areas and youll get a longer coverage in open areas.

  • what is the battery capacity?

  • Weird, said Paypal returned blank address (despite showing it to me right before I clicked confirm) now I have no idea if my order went through or not.

    • didn't seem to go through so created an account and ordered again
