Misleading title, judging from the WayBack Machine that's the regular price… and I wouldn't ever buy something that is going to possibly touch my eyes (neutralised or no!) from somebody I'd never heard of before.

On the bright side, buying at $29 a unit IS cheaper than Chemist Warehouse who only stock the kit with 1x360mL + 1x90mL for $24.

    So… buyer beware?

EDIT: Looking at the instructions, I personally CBF using something as troublesome as soaking my lenses for 6 hours with the neutraliser before I could safely use my lenses. Additionally, there are only three cases and it says to only use the solution with the supplied cases… what happens if you run out of cases after having to throw them away? @_@ Seems like an awfully fussy product.

You shouldn't comment on a product you haven't used.
I don't wash my hands (optom recommends you to) when I take out my lenses because I don't need to touch my lenses. I use Orthokeratology lenses (night lenses), they're rigid lenses and just fall out of my eyes when I pull my eyelids taut with my head hovered over the sink (1 air bubble + blink is enough for hard lenses) and the lenses drop out of my eyes into the tissues I lay on my sink.
I, of course when I have contact with my orthok lenses (when I put them in before I sleep), wash my hands.

This product is not designed for disposable lenses. They're designed for those people who will not use their lenses for more than 6 hours (i.e. OrthoKs, or hard lenses when you're not using them, like overnight. For OrthoKs, AOsept will clean them while you're away from home. For hard lenses, your contact lenses will be cleaned overnight/while you sleep. If you're using contact lenses with less than 6 hours of sleep, better watch out for dry eyes.)

It's a hydrogen peroxide solution with a case that has a small platinum coated disc as a catalyst, which will kill all bacteria, they put 6 hours there to make sure all the peroxide has been neutralized. There are other brands available as well, please see the below article to read a bit about the effectiveness of a hydrogen peroxide cleaning solution, where several brands are tested.

Indeed it is the regular price, yet it is cheaper than every store in Australia. I challenge you, as a fellow OzBargainer to find a better deal than this.

Optometrists charge $45-$50 per "Value Pack". This "Value Pack" contains 2 x 360mL + 1 x 90mL, each use/dose for the line on the plastic container uses up 10mLs.

From their email, they are using this system, http://www.mycibavision.com.au/content_common/pg-direct-to-p…, it is direct from the Australian CibaVision's Warehouse (according to their email, from what I can see whoever is sending out the emails seems to be quite honest), apparently only optometrists can access this system.

Additionally, there are only three cases and it says to only use the solution with the supplied cases… what happens if you run out of cases after having to throw them away? @_@ Seems like an awfully fussy product.

You use this product at home. It's recommended to change the case after you open a new bottle of AOsept. You have 3 bottles of AOsept, with the 3rd one being a travel pack, how many do you need!?
A catalyst is not consumed/used up in a reaction, it speeds it up only by providing more points of reaction, each case has a small plastic platinum disc (catalyst for neutralizing the hydrogen peroxide solution).

Disclosure statement: I have contacted this company before and let them know about the prices we pay in Australia. I let them know about OzBargain about a month or so back when inquiring about their products.
Also please note I have no bias in my post, I don't work for this company, I'm merely trying to put some facts on top of "omg 6 hours wtfbbq who are you".

I am defending the product and the offered price, but not the merchant because I have only inquired about prices so far. We should really embrace companies like this attacking the Australian Market, because even with GST and delivery, it shows a Value Pack should be $33 delivered when bought in bulk, yet it is $45 in stores.

      • That sounds reasonable.
I did note the price is better than other places, and merely commented to note it was not a sale (typically, 'regular' prices are not voted very well, but it seems from the submission guidelines that there is nothing against this).

Thankyou for the further information which was not previously available to the rest of us.

        • You're welcome, below is what I have written about my experience for AOSept, I haven't used any other hydrogen peroxide solution so I can only say I recommend AOSept.

P.S. I have also warned this company about OzBargain being a tough crowd when I let them know about this site :)

Aosept routine for me with OrthoKs
Morning: Pull eyelids like I'm mocking a chinaman-squinty-eye-racist face, look to the left/right (dependent on the eye) and the thing falls out. Put the lenses into the case, squeeze 10mL, screw lid, done. Takes me literally 1 minute to do this as opposed to the manual cleaning solution.

Night: Wash hands + unscrew lid and pour out neutralized solution, put comfort solution on lens and plop in eye.

          Manual routine for orthoKs
Morning: Take out lens procedure + wash hands + rubbing with disinfectant cleaning solution then rinsing with saline, before putting into a lens storage case (and filling with comfort solution for lens to be in). Takes 5 minutes if you're fast, ten if you drop a lens from rubbing.

Night: Wash hands + unscrew lid + wash the lens again with cleaner solution, then rinse cleaner off with saline + comfort solution again onto freshly cleaned lens (Night wash step can be skipped if you feel risky/lazy) + plop in eyes.

          Comparison
The night routine is quite similar in the AOsept method if you're skipping the second cleaning step, but remember that case which your lenses chill in the day are not rinsed/cleaned daily and bacteria can build up in there over time. Where as if you use the AOsept method (lens can be kept in neutralized solution for up to 2 weeks), there is no possible way of contamination.

Downside to AOsept is if your lens falls off your finger onto the sink/anywhere possibly unclean, you will have to manually clean it unless you want to wait 6 hours (but this is a safety precaution that you should do if you are using manual clean method anyway… never skimp out on a few minutes of cleaning for something that will be on your eye, worst case scenario is "look mum, I can't see!"), this will happen the first few times when you're not used to putting hard lenses in your eyes and also on those bad days we all have with our contact lenses (it happens to me occasionally)

Remember all, these might just save your life.

    • I saw what you did there ;)

  • Sorry not a product for first time users to trial with their contact lenses. Existing users only to purchase! All our product comes out of Ciba Visions Australasian NSW warehouse.

Contact lens users who are sensitive to preservatives need to use this product. In response to Kwchaz, 3 cases is heaps! One with each bottle. Don't worry… existing users know what to do. And the price is good, otherwise I wouldn't bother to advertise.

    • Being a recent AOSept convert after previously using Optifresh and Renu, yes hydrogen peroxide is a better alternative but a bit more fiddly. Once you get into a routine though it's quite easy.

  • I used to use AOSept, it's a very good product, but found that it was expensive to purchase in Australia because the discs are sold separately. In asia they used to be included in the box.

    • When did you use aosept? I've seen the discs on eBay… But for the last year or so the ones I've has always had discs included in the case.
Roy young had these at $27 each, but the product description was for an economy pack (1x360ml + 1x90ml), so it was definitely a pricing error, I didn't stock up :/ (and now they have it at $27 for the same one as chemist warehouse), this price is pretty much on par with the pricing error as it includes delivery. (nothing is 'free' to post unless you're in china abusing someone else's postage permit)

      • But for the last year or so the ones I've has always had discs included in the case.

Ah right, I haven't used AOSept for maybe 10 years. Good to know that the discs are included in the Australian packs now.

  • If anyone is interested I ordered on Monday Night
Order Acknowledged on Tuesday, it's obvious that they aren't able to automate the process for ordering through Cibavision - they're doing each order manually, their emails aren't automated either.
    Delivered Wednesday Afternoon

Proof of my 4 boxes of AOSEPT, Expiry date says 2014-4, MFG 2012-5 (assuming its manufacture date, strange that they have 1 year old stock at the NSW Warehouse)

Note to others: Safest route is probably ask the dude at [email protected] for the expiry date confirmation before you go crazy and order heaps at this price. 1 year's supply is 4.5 x of these.

    Thanks for the service :)
