Most cost effective way to retain mobile number

Howdy OzBargainers,

I am currently overseas and will be until end July, what is the most cost effective way to retain my number? I am currently with amaysim and think to just port it to one of those cheap vodaphone prepaid cards and back again, but I'm sure someone here has a better idea.

why not switch to amaysim pre-paid? top up with $10. credit lasts 90 days. and then your sim lasts another 90 days after that. it's got to be cheaper than porting fees

Aldi mobile has 365 day credit expiry on a $15 recharge.

  • Guess it depends where you want to end up when you return. Aldi? Kogan? etc.

You could get a Kogan starter for $5. Activate Trial for 7 days. Get at least 90 after expiry. After 89 days put a $10 data pack on for another 30 days and let that expire for another 90 days access. Does that get you thru?

$30 Telstra Starter for $10 on special, put on Long Life for 180 days access?

    • The kogan free sim has no expiry date.
