    cheaper to go overseas.
activities, hotels, food, shopping etc all cheaper overseas.
flights might be too if lucky.

  • Port Douglas is quite nice if you are staying in the country.

With a 2 year old, I'd stay in the country. I found some cheap accommodation at Trinity Beach on Stayz.

Weird i was just looking up options for the same thing last night. young kids too.
We were thinking phuket might be fun. or even trying Darwin, which admittedly i know nothing about other than it's warm. we usually go to maui but our free accommodation option is out this year so no way is that affordable!

    fiji, tahiti, vanuatu?

  • We loved cairns! Stayed at cairns coconut resort it's a big 4 caravan park. Awesome place to stay with kids :)

My Partner and I take our two young children(2 and 4) to Hua Hin in Thailand. We find it cheaper, friendlier and a more enjoyable experience than our few Queensland hoildays, mostly due to price. Our apartment is generally found through airbnb or something similar for around 30 dollars a night and is always a very lovely and clean apartment. Meals are healthy and are about 3 dollars a main, at a very clean and enjoyable restaurant. Flights are the only expensive thing being about 600 per person return, but once there we can live on next to nothing and still feel free to do what we want.

  • Do you find airbnb a good reliable site to search from Australia? I have never heard of it

I only found out about it last year and it is a great site. Airbnb done release your money until the day you check out, protecting you from a lot of dodginess. In Thailand we have stayed at the holiday homes of Brits and Aussies. If anybody reading this ever goes to Europe then I think that is where the best bargains are especially with our dollar and their motivation to let out apartments. I was having a guilty look at apartments in Madrid and found a two bedroom smack in the middle of the place to be for 900 a month. Ahhh the possibilities. It will have to be a dream for a while as the kids are not up to such a long flight yet.

  • im going to the philippines. and cannot wait. it should be awesome.
