    Defy - Gingerbread
    Razr V - ICS

  • +1

Very limited custom ROM or root support on the Defy, and 600mhz processor. Don't think it will ever graduate past Gingerbread. Internal memory limited at 120MB.

What do you guys think of the Razr V?

    • +2

Would be awesome if the bootloader wasn't locked but still a pretty decent phone for the price/specs.

Hopefully they put the stock JB om the V as well.

      MOTOROLA RAZR V

Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) upgrade rollout expected to begin in March 2013.

      • so the RAZR V is guaranteed to get Jelly Bean?

        • Greatttt.!!!

      • But its march already, where is it?

    • +3

I have one, I'm really happy with it at $246…I'd be even happier at $212.80 :)

      • +2

Yes, I also got it during the JBHifi deal and pretty happy. Looks great and works well. though Specs wise S2 and Razor V are the same. Razor struggles sometimes running apps.

I was keen on it until I learned it had software buttons which are part of the screen rather than being separate, fixed buttons underneath, so the 4.3" display size isn't equivalent to 4.3" on most other Android phones. It'd be alright if the buttons moved out of the way when not needed, but reports are that pretty much only happens for full screen video.

      • New to Android?

      • Yes, that is a bit annoying but resolution is good so does not matter that much.

  • I just purchased a LG Optimus 4X HD but if I couldn't find it for sub $350 I was going to buy one of these. Great deal (beats the previous $229 deal at JB-Hifi) and a great phone I think in the price range.

Next closest would be the HTC Velocity 4G for $199 (which there is ONE at K-Mart @ Capalaba, QLD btw) :P this is just more easily found!

  • Less than a month and the price of the razr v has dropped another $30? looks like there's still some left overs from their last sale.

    • This one has Optus branding, last deal was generic.

      • Does it work on the Telstra Next G Network?

  • +1

A bit disappointed since my razr arrived from them just two days ago, and now this =/. Pretty solid phone though, and you can pick up a screen protector for it using the xtremeguard deal from a few days ago for cheap. Also comes with a couple of free EA game downloads (from a limited selection).

    • +1

Hi, don't be disappointed, u got the generic version we still selling for $269

      • A bit relief after seeing this, coz i bought mine for $246 from JB!!! but its a generic version instead of branded, are there any differences beside those annoying optus bloatware?

        • software is only different.

  • +2

Just bought a Razr V. Thanks for the post.

  • Need a gps for cycle.. probably garmin edge 200.. a weather proof mobile for $30 cheaper will also solve the purpose… confused…

  • +2

Previously bought a RazrV from JB-Hifi for $249 (Thanks to Ozbargain).
    - Best phone (one of good brands) one can get at this price ($199+shipping) as of today.
    - Dont worry about the internal memory. 2 Gb for system Apps and other apps (which cant be moved to SD card)is more than enough (at-least for me). For example, I installed 21 basic apps and still 1.47 Gb is remaining (which depends on the size of the App you download).
    - It feels pretty solid (So I didn't buy any protective casing and all)

Rep, I placed an order but it doesn't show up in "my orders" link, is that normal?

    • +1

call us or email us to double check your order.

  • how long does the battery last?

    • +2

More than 2.5 days with normal calling only and Wifi and 3g off. Batery performance is much better than S2.

      • +1

2 days for sure but if u play games or reading a lot of magazines like me, then 1.5 days, the screen is really best looking with some games and reading pdf docs, for $200, you can't go wrong with this.

The only painful part is only ebay has case and screen protector and they damn took 3 weeks to get here !!!

  • either you guys are flat out or no-one wants to answer the phone :( I want to reserve one for pickup at Parramatta. Need to look at blue toother adaptors for cars when picking up too.

      Hi Colaman

All the line are very busy this morning, try now you should get thought within 1 minutes.

      • +1

thanks, picked one up, checking it out, might have to pick another up, looks good.

        • +1

Make sure you call our store to reserve before sold out or deal finish.

        • does it finish at midnight tonight?

        • Oh darn, I don't think I am going to make it down in time. Hopefully another deal comes up soon for something similar as I can hold out a little longer. I like that you guys are close to where I work and will probaby be back again when I need to update my phone instead of my wifes and you have a good deal on something else (personally would like something a little more speced up than this but I could not fault the deal hence the sale:)

  • can anyone confirm that this has a normal sized sim card slot?

    • Normal size sim card

      • thanks

        • of course normal is what is referred to as mini sim, micro being smaller than that again.

  • I got this from JB 2 months ago for 246 as a gift for my mom. She loves it but the only problem is the spring inside the sim card slot keeps on ejecting the sim every now and then. Not sure if this is an isolated problem on this particular handset or a common one?

    • The sim slot definitely isn't the best. Mine is fine but I am always careful to be very delicate when inserting a sim

      • No problems with mine whatsoever, you just need to be sure it's clicked in securely first time around, it's a bit of a squeeze so you need to use a pen/stylus/whatever…I found my sausage-fingers wouldn't cut the mustard! ;)

  • Thanks rep for the nice deal. I ordered a motorola v late last night, express post to Melbourne. I'm guessing I might get it Monday or Tuesday….? Does express post function over the weekend, it doesn't does it? Anyway looking forward to it since my phone's screen just blanked out and has basically died.

  • +1

    Thanks mobileciti, just ordered one.

  • Have to say, I am very happy indeed with mine at the price. Does everything I want it to - slick package and fast phone. Thanks to Mobileciti and the poster
