Too bad they don't make it coupled on M mount.
    That, will be awesome.

    • Don't know about m mount, but plenty of 25mm 1.4 c mount cctv/cine lenses on eBay for about $25 delivered to Australia. I bought one last year just for the novelty value. Don't know if I'd drop $625 more to get a 0.95… Probably not.

      • Those C-mount/CCTV lens are, well, made for CCTVs and performance-wise (sharpness, CA, fkare resistances, etc.) cannot be compared to this lens.

This lens is probably for people serious about video work/photog.
There aren't many T/f0.95 lens out there. Most of them costs more, some much more, like the Leica Noctilux which costs about $10,000.

  • Forgive me if I'm mistaken, but this is Micro 4/3rds mount, not cine? Does the Cine mean that the aperture doesn't click?

Steve Huff generally likes these Nokton alternatives (within reason) but the website is pretty poor with the information etc… Hood does what? Allows you to attach 77mm filters?

    • it's m43 mount. Hood is built-in into the lens. One of the salesman told me he will throw 49mm to 77mm step up filter ring free. But my guess is if the step up is used, hood will not be able to be used.

      • You probably won't be able to use the hood with a step up ring as the ring will block the hood from being retracted.

Btw, you can get a set or one step-up ring for peanuts on eBay. Those I got (generic) are decently made and works just fine.

    • Yep. From what I know, Cine means the aperture doesn't click for video work. Some people don't like that for still photog as you have to look at the lens to determine the f-stop. I suppose some can guess what the aperture is at with click-stops.

Hood is to protect the lens from flare, from strong light sources.

  • They do make a M mount, although charge more for it, as I understand it is much better glass than the M43 version, so is really a different lens all together. It is not however, rangefinder coupled, which means you guess how far the object it, then dial in the lens (on live view you can check, but on a Leica M8/9 you can't). Without that it would be a killer with thin Depth of Focus!

They made a range finder coupled version, but it was unreliable, so only offer it in Hong Kong (not sure why it should be reliable there and nowhere else…)

As the glass for the M 50 is different to the M43 50, I would assume there would be a difference if they did an M 25 as well … although might be fun!

Probably better off with the Voitlander if you don't have much to spend
