I'm going to NYC soon and looking for a sporting good that stocks snowboarding clothes + gear - particularly Burton gear.

Modells is great for sports stuff but I don't think they do snowboard stuff.
If you're completely set on burton try to get their ak line for outerwear, seems to hold up a lot better to wear
Not sure about Burton but I once had a trip to the US where, before I left I ordered and paid for ski stuff (Spyder Jacket & Pants) from Sierra Trading Post and had it delivered to my Hotel. When I arrived at check-in the parcel was waiting for me! I am sure the massive number of online US snow shops, most having end of season clearance sales would do exactly the same. If you know what it is you are after you can use the search engines www.spadout.com or www.thefind.com to find great online outdoor deals.
As far as Burton goes, there is an awesome Burton outlet in Orlando (as well as North Face). Not quite NY but if you were passing through!!!
Sport's Authority has lots of locations and tends to have these things although it may be seasonal. Dick's is good.REI is like Anaconda. Also check out the department stores like Macy's and JC Penny.
