Horize W650EH Ultranote - best value for given specs?

Hey guys just wondering if anyone knows of a laptop that's better priced with comparable specs. I do not play any games but will occasionally be doing CAD and FEA simulations, so the 1080p screen and dedicated graphics are a big stand out for me.

What are your thoughts on the extra $150 to upgrade from i5-3360m to i7-3630QM ?

Any advise/opinions will be appreciated! :D

  • You might want to think about importing this…

    What do you think?

    • The Horize has an SSD.

The Lenovo has Win8 and the quad.

I imagine the GPU is about the same in the real world?

      Here's an AU price:

      Y580-BDBBKKX Lenovo IdeaPad Y580 Laptop; i7-3610QM, 15.6" FHD 1920x1080p, 12GB Ram, 750GB HDD

      AU $1,628.0

      • The Horize does indeed look like a great machine.

My only question is regarding it's thermal performance - it looks like a very thin laptop so how does it handle cooling - especially if you went with the upgrade to an i7…

Can't find any side or rear views of that new Horize model - I wonder what the air vents are like?

        • download the service manual for the w550eu

          should be similar

for me i question whether i need the gpu vs. the hd4000 in the w550

i dont play games on laptops

        • Thanks for that Tony. Yes had a look at the service manual. Pretty impressive in detail. Looks good.
