I have been using pocketbook for a few weeks now. It is similar to mint.
I have a total of 3 accounts added into pocketbook, regular bank, online savings and credit card.
The system is ment to add up all your purchases and income and provide information where you are spending money on. Unfortunately the system does not recognise a lot of transactions, infact the majority of them, even cash withdrawals it has a problem. It also does not automatically categorize the majority of them, simple ones like coles it will put into grocery, anything else you will have to categorize them yourself.
I withdraw money from the ATM and then deposit it at the bank into my credit card. It is unable to work out if these are. It also does not show pending transactions such as when I move money into on line saver say from a ASP, the money disappears for a couple of days.
I am going to close my account soon, does not work anything like mint but it was designed as trying to be so.
One thing I might have found useful is the bill calendar, it is ment to remind you of bills that are being paid or you need to pay. It did not detect my TPG internet, Mobile, credit card min payment date etc. It did pick up interest on credit card thou. Why bother with it, I have a outlook calendar, I can put those bills on there.
Have a look at the link, you might see some nice example screenshots on the site, but really the data it provides at least for me was meaningless. You could spend alot of time putting everything that is not automatically picked up into categories but the issue of cash withdraws I found it would not detect a series and you had to keep putting the same ATM transactions into categories.
One nice thing is every Sunday it sends you a nice formatted email showing the total spending and income of the week. Nevermind the ASPs are not showing up until they are cleared 4 days later.
I will say you could make the information more useful if you spent a lot of time categorizing every transaction which it will sometimes make a series out of. It is a good try thou, still needs a lot more improvement before I will have a look at it again.
Really not impressed with it at all and find it quite useless. Anyone else used it?
Interesting application. I have seen their presentations a few times in various events, and from their About page they are founded by people with credentials. I wonder what the cost is, whether it's going to be freemium or are they in the initial free trial period.
