    Travel Period :1 January 2014 - 30 April 2014
one year in advance for $179 from Sydney and after booking no refund and double the price to change the date its not worth it.

    • +3

yeah your right $179.95 is far to expensive. (insert sarcasm) if you want to change the date then book a higher ticket. what are you expecting for $179,.95 a chauffeur to drop you off at the gates as well. lmao some people

      • +1

its only really around 30% off… I would say it's not worth it under those circumstances

  • Was checking out the government's smart traveller website yesterday for an upcoming trip and Hatyai has been listed as Do Not Travel which is the highest level of alert, equal to alerts given for Libya, Syria etc. Just found it interesting as I've traveled from Thailand to Malaysia overland before and it was absolutely fine. It's also a popular route for people doing Visa runs.

    • +1

ignore it. they are just covering there ass. i remember when the hurricanes hit usa they put up a warning alert and thailand is always warning alert. they are just a bunch of paranoid gits.

      • -1

I remember reading some news about south of Thailand having some issues at the moment……

smart traveler just advise, it's better to spend time safe with family than sorry….

    • Regardless of the perceived threat there is also a good chance your travel insurance won't cover you while in the region.

TID specifically refer to the Malaysian-Thai border in their website spiel re: Govt travel advice:

"If they advise against travel to a country (e.g.Somalia anyone?) or even to a region or part of a country (like the Thai - Malaysian border), and you choose to ignore that advice, you do so at your peril. You won't be covered if you go there and anything happens to you."

  • Do you have to have Big Shot points to book early?

    • I'm not having any luck - I have no points to redeem.
I thought Big Shot gave you early access - but I'm not seeing any cheap seats.
My BIG login is different to my AirAsia login - but both same membership number. No luck with either.

    • I reckon the early access for Big Loyalty Card holders, is just for the free seats part of the sale. I only have 350 points, but is shows up all the free seats and allows me to book them for the whole period.

I don't think you need to have any points as its all 0 point redemptions for the free seats, you just need to be a current BIG card holder.

    • I've got 0 points, but have a big shots login (no prepaid card), It lets me select the flights which are cheap but I can't finalize the booking as it says I don't have enough points for the booking. It displays boths the points and the cash totals at the bottom.

Is there a way I can just pay the cash total? So confused…

  • Same here - have 0 points, so can only buy $0 seats (none in/out Oz). The cash portion is the taxes, payable in cash (credit card) presumably.

    • Ahh I see, Is there a way to buy points now?

Edit, I think you have to have a prepaid Asia Air Big Visa card to transfer to points etc.

Looks like will have to wait until tomorrow..

  • Try ebay.
Not sure what the AA points transfer rules are. Virgins are pretty tight.

Couldnt find any zero seats. Cheapest was 7000 SYD-KL
Not sure this is for me. Looking for 10 days next easter/ANZAC. Only 3 days off work in-between.
Dates are over 12 months away and not registering on AA search engine.
Did see SYD-HKT $209 HKT-KL $36 KL-Syd $100 (Same cost as BIG promo cash taxes.) Hopefully still there in a few weeks.

    • are you the Big Shot member?

      • Huh?

  • No return flights then?

CAN SOMEONE CONFIRM TO ME AND EVERYONE.

IS THIS "SALE" LEGIT, NOT JUST SOME HUGE APRIL FOOLS JOKE.

    • Yes, it is legit, it doesn't start until tomorrow don't forget. Early access is just for the free seats listed in the post for Big Card Holders only.

  • Waiting…waiting

    • only 5 hours to go :)

  • weird can't seem to see nonsale flights for next march next year

    • Same - can only see to 1st week feb

  • +2

    Wakey wakey.. it's almost time.
I've got 4 tabs up, with 4 different flights loaded … ready to click at 3am

Good luck everybody. Post your fortunes.

    • I set my alarm and was up and ready at 3am. The was in the waiting room for about 30 minutes then eventually gave up and went to sleep. I ended up getting tickets at a later date this morning. Better than full price i guess.

      How'd your luck go?

  • -5

NOT WORKING EVERYONE. WAITING ROOM REFRESHING PROBLEMS?

UNABLE TO SEARCH FOR A FLIGHT??

    • I can search, but the sale prices are not on sale….

    • +1

patience. Typical of any big Air Asia sale. You left caps-lock on too btw

    • not much on offer, many must have went back to sleep.

  • -1

just rang Jetstar to pricematch - flights I want are next Easter and arent up on Jetstar system yet.
Damn, have to wait in the AA queue.

    • Will Jetstar match their prices?

      • Yes + 10% off. Did so with the $10 Tiger fares. $9 on Jetstar.
Any luck with your fares ?

I got $500 each return to HKT incl bags etc (and cc fee $48 going out - ouch, and only $8 back ??)
Jetstar had a better departure date I was hoping to jag in the confusion.

  • I've been through the whole of Jan for a sale fare and not one day has the deal…

  • Finding stuff in April, keeps reverting back to the waiting room.
Have you tried changing the region setting at bottom of main page. Try MYR

  • I had two computers (4 browsers) open and it took about an hour, but I finally got the "Lowest Price" Promo fares possible for my route (PER-TPE) in April 2014. Just be patient :)

Try to have set dates in mind. Unfortunately, once I got through and saw the flights, I played around with different dates (to find any cheaper flight combinations), but unfortunately that usually resulted in my being kicked back to the waiting room for another 10 minutes.

  • Doing likewise. Lowest fare doesnt seem to be the advertised sale fares.
    "Fares from.." probably covers them.
And forgot the add-ons push it up further. Fly-thru costs 2x bag fee.

Easter and ANZAC weekends 2014 arent going to be this close together again… going to take the plunge.

  • Finding heaps of Mel-KL fares. its $179 Mel to KL and $125 KL TO Mel (Cheaper if you book return leg on Malaysian site).

  • CC fees ex-y

    • No different to other airlines especially LCCC. What is $15 when you save $200-500? Also there are methods to pay without fees like Paypal for the Malaysian site, etc

      • Like $48 worth going out - $8 coming in, go figure. CC = Travel insurance.
What's paypals MYR/AUD rate like. Dont they charge % ?

        • You can pay via a CC with Paypal

        • Doh !

  • Left it until 6am (Sydney) to book.. No prob getting what I wanted.. Syd to Kul $179 and Kul to Syd $95.60 (booked as two separate flights). Paypal on the AU site and use my CC (for insurance) and CC on MY site (the CC fee is much less offensive and is still cheaper than booking return flights). Obviously use a card that doesn't charge currency/cross border fees - I used my bankwest platinum (no fee, no currency fees, ok travel insurance policy).

Pity to tune hotels sale didn't include April this time..!

Now the waiting game for cheap flights to Europe or somewhere else from KL…

  • 1st time consider air asia from syd to macau, stop by kl few days, thinking syn/kl $179, kl/macau $163, macau/kl $95, kl/syn $118
should i go for it or should wait another speical laterz?
    thx

    • go for it, it is cheap enough

      • sorry noobs here, can i combine 2 return flights into one and save fare fee or whatever?

  • -3

These flights are nowhere near "FREE".

The prices are actually not cheap. Would not regard this thing as a promotion at all.

    A misleading publicity stunt.

    • I actually believe its a really good deal. I managed to finalise my order from Sydney to Ho Chi Minh city with 40kg luggage RETURN for only $570. Dirt Cheap! Pity the holiday period probably sold out first as i couldn't get in the server at 3am and didn't try again til 9.30am. :(

      • +1

        Nice work.

    • Where does it say free ? or are you talking about the BIG points promo. Got points to spend, you might find a free seat (Just pay taxes)
This is another promo for non-AA members, or members with no points - like me.

    • Mate seriously, almost all the free flight routes listed in the original post still have plenty of free flights available and all the other sale flights listed in the link below also have plenty of availability at the sale cost.

Hardly any of the routes have completely sold out. You must be either looking at the wrong dates or looking at the wrong airline.

As for the flights being 'free', the routes I listed in the original post ARE free, you just pay taxes and fees.

What route are you looking for and when do you wish to travel?

      • +1

Sorry to wake you up GDM. My post was meant for OzB'ed above. I've got my tix for nix.

        • +1

Yeah I know mate, i was replying to Ozbargained too ;)

        • Cant thank you enough gooddealmate!! I am expecting another holiday :) Heaps excited.

        • You're expecting another… congratulations xtine. Are you using maternity leave for your holiday?

In case you're vacation was by accident or made in the heat of the moment use www.tripadvisor.com before the arrival. So much good preventative information to have a happy bonding time with your family.

Tip. Remember your medical kit to take travel pills and other precautions. Your excitement can be infectious. I'm excited too for you already.

Too bad for me - I'm still trying for another. I was up at 3am, and tried till morning. Spent a long time in the waiting room.

        • GDM, what have you done for XTINE above ? Very excited and expecting another.

  • Just got 2x return flights from SYD to KIX for $1200 over CNY. Not too bad.

    • $150 per sector - nice.

  • air asia always has deals which are far away. this is to be expected! i love air asia, have flown them a few times and cannot complain for the price
