Last minute tour/cruise packages?

Hi all,

I'm wondering if there websites in Australia (or nearby countries) that have "last minute" tour/cruise packages that are heavily discounted? if not, wouldn't this be a good idea?

I do know of lastminute.com.au but the good deals are mainly only for hotels. Looking for tours or cruises that are heavily discounted either to make minimum numbers or rather have more people on small profit than an empty carriage.

I've known a few in the US, where literally show up in the airport bringing a passport not knowing where I'm going……but those trips are the fun ones!

although, wouldn't be too keen if sent to N.Korea (or even S.Korea at the moment), Afghanistan, or Iraq for obvious reasons.

How about a 9 day transatlantic cruise on Queen Mary 2. Leaves tomorrow and last minute inside cabin = 1400euros (38% off)

ecruising.com.au is another site that offers good prices.

Cleancruising.com.au quite often have last-minute specials - but almost never sailing from Australia.

In fact, cruises here tend to be overbooked (I know that Carnival recently had to bump 4 families from a syd-nz-syd cruise because they were so overbooked … cost them a bucketload (repayment of cruise fares, plus repayment of airfares, plus free replacement of cruise in 12 months…)

    • That's peanuts to Carnival. I'd be livid.
Incidently, how much notice do the families get - 2 or 3 weeks beforehand or on the departure date ?

Intrepid have worldwide tours and last minute deals. Best Flights have a cruise tab on their website.

  • About 3 weeks.
