Alarm clock / iPhone dock to play radio off the Internet?

Hi,

i'm looking to buy a new alarm clock. I'd like to be able to dock my iPhone on it but i'd also like it to be able to play internet radio to wake me up in the morning.

I live outside of Sydney but i'd like to be able to listen to the Sydney FM stations (2dayFM / TripleM / Nova) when the alarm clock goes off.

Does anybody have any suggestions of a device that would handle that? I'm not sure if it helps, but I already have TuneIn radio on my iphone and it has the stations that i'd like to play.

I bought a Revo Domino D3 off ebay for about $35. I got it to listen to DAB+ radio, as AM reception is a little flaky where I live in the Blue Mountains, but it also has Internet radio via wifi, 30pin iphone dock, FM radio and a way to stream music from your computer (or LastFM if you have an account).
I was blown away by the feature set, and it is one of the best purchases I have made recently. You can set up favourite stations so you can just turn it on and be listening to the BBC, turn the knob to FM and it is where you left it on 2Day etc, turn again and it plays the iphone, again ABC digital.
It has an alarm clock function, but I haven't used that. Be aware it doesn't have a battery back up for the clock, so if your power is as dubious as mine it would be a risky alarm to rely on.
The only drawback is it is a biggish unit (more the size of a small boombox than a clock radio) and it only has a single speaker, and no headphone jack. The sound from the one speaker is pretty good though.

  • Thanks for the recommendation mskeggs!

I purchased one off eBay yesterday so hopefully it'll get delivered sometime this week.
