32" LCD TV

Right, I think I've finally managed to convince my parents to part with the chunky CRT TV they've had sitting in their bedroom looking ugly and taking up space. I've got nothing against a good CRT but this one and its stand takes up 1/5th of an already cluttered bedroom. The nail in the CRT TVs coffin would be me buying them a slick, new, easy to use LCD TV. I'm hoping ozbargain can help find me a good deal. The requirements:

  1. 32" LCD
  2. Under $300 (If you think I should increase my budget, say why)
  3. Not fussed about 'FULL HD', 1366 x 768 resolution is just fine.
  4. USB PVR functionality and a built in DVD player would be a bonus. The fewer remotes the better.
  5. Brand doesn't matter, but I'd rather go into a shop and buy it then buy online. This rules out Kogan. Also, I've got several $100 Woolworths Gift cards lying about so it'd be a bonus for me if the bargain is at Dick Smith or Big W.

This Dick Smith unit has been on sale twice now for $198 delivered and is pretty much exactly what I'm after: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/92772. I've been keeping an eye out over the last month for a similar deal and have spotted nothing good, hence my post. If anyone spots anything worthy please yell out.

If you are anywhere near Heatherton Road, Springvale, Aldi still had 4 x 39" Medion TVs left on Thursday night for $249 each.

I bought one for my son, he broke it (tipped it over) so I bought another one and boxed up the broken one to return for a refund. You have a 75% chance of getting one that works!

    • Damn good price. I have been torn between this elcheapo or a Sony 40" hx750 for $699.

Part of me can see the Aldi is a crazy good deal, but then the Sony looks 4 times better (wifi, unpn iview etc).

    • Thanks for the heads up. I'm in Hobart so there's no Aldi - otherwise the Medion sounds like it would've been a goer.
