Air Asia X reduced cost flights back to KL for registered Malaysian voters

Nothing concrete yet, but if you're Malaysian, and thinking of flying back home to vote, might want to hang off for a bit. (Postal registrations closed on 3 April for this year's election, so too late for that if you missed it).

Federal parliament & most state parliaments have been dissolved, and the election date will be announced soon. Once this date has been confirmed, Air Asia X plans to offer discounted tickets (~AUD198 one way) to KL for registered Malaysian voters.

Dear Fellow Malaysians,

As the election draws near, it is time to fulfil our pledge to our country. For this upcoming election period, AirAsia X is setting aside a number of seats for registered voters to fly home to make a difference.

  • Now I wonder whether Australian airlines would do something similar in September.

To the best of my knowledge they haven't in the past. I follow elections a bit (see my handle)

  • Not sure why AA is making a deal out of this since M'sia has the postal vote. Anything for publicity I suppose.
