  • Unless there's some hidden clause like ex. GST or there's exhorbitant shipping costs, that looks like a very good price for a Silvia…

It was too good to be true. In the linking page (http://www.coffeeitalia.com.au/products.php?cat=22), the product was clearly said to be "brand new in unopened box" (http://tinypic.com/r/2mmedg9/6) but when I asked what "DISPLAY FLASH OFFER" meant, they said that it meant the machine was a display unit, never used. Now this makes me a little suss, so I Googled them a little and found this interesting thread: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055320563&p…

Further trawling on Coffee Snobs pointed me to Grinders, who happen to sell Silvias for $499! :D

      • Even better, it wasn't so long ago you couldn't get one under $700, the cheapest on ebay today was $629, so $499 is a great price! :)

      • That's is a fantastic price.

I'm in the same boat right now, deciding on a coffee machine and grinder.

What grinder have you got/lookng at buying?

        • I was in touch with Grinders earlier today, that price is while stocks last.

          I have a $99 Sunbeam EM0480 from Big W. :D

        • Do you mind me asking which Grinders office you contacted?

        • I used the contact form on their website. There's a retail shop in Carlton.

        • Thanks for that.

When are you picking up your Silvia?

        • Depends. How many are you buying? ;)

I want to buy this as a gift. I gotta earn it first.

        • Lol

I'd like to buy 1 but not sure if the missus will agree.

Buy first, deal with fallout later. ;)

The silvia's a great machine to learn, especially if you enjoy a little bit of routine in the mornings making your coffee, I regret having to sell mine but will definately buy another once we move into a bigger place.

I got as far as 3 shots in ten being perfect, sweet, espresso drinkable on their own with nothing extra, 5 in ten being ok, same as local cafe quality and the other couple being bitter but useable in latte's

It's not an easy machine to get results with but satisfying to learn

  • I took the plunge and went down to Lygon St. this morning. About half a dozen shots in and I think I have some passable coffee. Buzzing now…

  • Just pulled the trigger on one delivered! Excellent value should be on the front page.

    • I hope you got it from Grinders. :)
