I shall buy this now that I I am not a preteen with no money. Many hours of fun from this game. Someone should make a mobile version :3

    • I just looked it up and apparently there's one for iPhone, according to wikipedia.
Wish they'd make it for Android.

  • I think this might actually be cheaper than the "original" price, can anyone confirm?

    • I think you will struggle to find the original version.

    • They've discounted it and added the 'upsampling' at the same time so yeah it'll be cheaper than the usual price at GoG

  • Awesome game.

  • Great game and price.

  • If you're after a modern variety, there's also Renegade Ops.

This game brings back a lot of memories for sure!

Trawling the bulletin boards for games that had a zip file larger than 1mb ensured that the graphics were at least ok. I remember the great dilemma when Strike Commander was released - the game had a whopping 40mb install and people were screaming "that's half of my hard drive!".

Of course the next Apogee release was in high anticipation, although it was doubtful they could ever top Commander Keen (even though Keen seemed to top itself with each new release). That said Cosmo and Jazz Jackrabbit were also heaps of fun - Jazz in particular had ridulously good graphics, especially when compared to something like Jill of the Jungle.

My dad upgraded his computer while I was playing this game. DOS being what it was the game now ran fast. REALLY fast. But I didn't mind because we now had a computer good enough to play the latest Wing Commander, which demanded that you upgrade your computer every time a new entry in the series came out.

Great to see that it still has a following.

  • Cheers, nostalgia FTW

  • Is this steam activated?
