I recently got the Dlink DIR 825 from flingshot.com.au , the same deal of 29.70
I try to flash the router but could not. it says upgrade fail everytime i upload the files on it after 30/30/30 method. i was also not able to find the correct factory for the router. any help would be highly appreciated .

i was able to flash and install dd wrt on it. but it could not get repeater option on the drop down menu on wireless mode . Were you able to use this as a wireless repeater.

See if it can do OpenWRT. That's another option. If it can do OpenWRT also see if Gargoyle supports it.
I use Gargoyle and it's awwwwwesome if you need to monitor/admin quotas and cut people off/shape if they use too much. Also has good QOS and can be setup as a repeater…I think.
I know I'm piggybacking this thread a little but I recently got this Router also and am finding that using wireless it works fine but a wired ethernet connection in any of the ports only runs at half speed with a very slow uplink, this is also the same if I flash the firmware to dd-wrt.. I can plug the cable straight out of that router and directly into my Telstra modem and speed is perfect again.
Anyone experience the same?

I can see that DD-WRT brings quite a few pros as listed on their website. What are the cons? I'm guessing it voids warranty?
I try using client bridge mode since repeater mode is not available. tried few times but could not succeed . my original router gateway is 192.168.1.1 , a guess most people has this. i tried to change the gateway for ddwrt router as 192.168.2.1 but did not work. no clear indication on DD WRT link. would love to hear from someone whose DIR 825 worked as repeater
if u are flashing the router and want to use as a repeater, u should stop worrying about warranty

This is the link for the DIR-825 C1. The file you probably tried is for the B1/B2 revision. I had the same issue as well and it worked perfectly with the file above.
