Recommendations - What Laptop should I buy for Work? Up to $1300

Hi All,
I need to purchase a new laptop for work.
The laptop will be used all day every day for work so I really want to buy the right one.
I've had minimal experiences with current generation Laptops and really would appreciate your suggestions.
The main usage is internet based with 7 - 8 tabs running at once.

My wants are:

  • 15"
  • Processor, Wont be gaming but will be running multiple tabs and programs simultaneously
  • Anti Glare Screen
  • Quality feel with a keyboard that is nice to use
  • Minimum 500GB hard Drive ( Ideally SSD or a combination of both )
  • Ability to Dock Similar to this: http://accessories.ap.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=au&l…
  • 2 - 3 years Comprehensive Warranty
  • Prefer Windows 7

I have had Lenovo products in the past and quite like the quality and quietness but I understand the after sales service has gorn to poop.

Budget - Up to $1300

  • 1: Above all else, get one with a screen/keyboard/trackpad/other interface that you like and are happy to use. This will matter more than anything else. It is also a large part personal preference.

2: If you want a 500GB SSD you should probably buy that separately and replace whatever the laptop comes with.

I am happy with Toshiba currently, but I suggest going to a shop with a heap of models on display and having a play around.

Whatever you get, unless you like not having you laptop for a week, get onsite nbd warranty.

    • NBD is definitely a must if you are relying it for work. Recent experience with Lenovo NBD warranty however leaves much to be desired. Maybe giving Dell Business laptops a try.

      • Agreed Lenovo has been shocking, since the transition from IBM service.

Dell nbd warranty is great if they have parts. From a service point of view i would be going Toshiba.

      • My friend bought a Dell laptop a few weeks ago. I was surprised when he said Dell can offer support through Whatsapp as well as the usual channels. That would make it easy to send photos and videos I guess.

  • Consider MacBook Air/Pro.
If not then take a look on Samsung Series 9.

    • 15" MacBook Air?
      $1300 15" MacBook Pro?

Charlie, the HP looks okay but the screen res would be the killer for me.

I've always liked Dell and I've had nothing but unbelievable support from them, as long as you know a bit about tech and an talk the talk to their tech support then from my experience, they're winners by a long shot. Probably a bonus I live in a capital city and their repair contractor is relatively close, every time I put it in they have it back the same or next day (they offer to come out by I offer to take in where they have the full workshop). On that note, I'd be looking into a vostro with 1080p…
